Well I have just about finished getting all my parts for my new personal dream machine.

Mobo: Asus A8R32 MVP deluxe
CPU: Opteron 170 LCB9E 0652 WPMW
PSU: Hiper 580w modular chrome CF certified
Optical: Samsung DVD burner w/Lightscribe
HD: Seagate Barracuda SATAII 16mb cache 320gb w/perpendicular recording, ncq
Case: Kingwin SK523 w/window black w/blue cathode
Cooling: Modded Arctic Freezer Pro 64 w/Vantec Tornado 92mm, lapped
2x120mm case fans, replaced NB heatsink w/vantech chipset HSF dual slot led pci fan/blue.
Vidcard: Sapphire x1900gt

My original plan was to get one x1950 pro 512mb, and another later for internal crossfire, but my kids busted our printer and the wife was hankering for a PDA real bad so I lost some of my rig money and it was either using my x800 gto or something in the $140 range. The Sapphire x1900gt has about the same specs as the x1950 pro no internal CF but I am only using it till I can get something better. It might work out for the best since ATI's next gen DX10 cards should be all internal crossfire capable (no mastecards yeah!!). Later going to get a water cooling setup, some internal prefab kit probably.

I would like anyones opinion on this card that has it and any issues I might need to look out for. I will put it in one of my other rigs once I get the cards I really want, but at least I only paid $129 from newegg, lucky for me I hope.

It's not bad, but you could probably get an x1950gt for around that price.

works ok for me at stock I have the rev.1 version. Even overclocked well (690/815 1,4v), Tiggers 7900gs overclocks better and kills it in 3d06 elc.

But if you plan on upgrading soon I think it will be fine I run mine at stock and its decent, only complaint I have is I get laggy in fear maxxed and I cant run Oblivion maxed either but It works great with Company of Heros.

Not sure on the prices of 7900gs, but if its the same as the 1900gt pick it.

lready got the x1900GT It just barely made my budget, liked the x1950gt but read some people were having issues with it and ATItool doesn't support it yet, plus it was just a little to pricesy. With tax and shipping the x1900gt just squeeked by. Since I am mainly an ATI guy Nvidia wasn't considered, nothing wrong with them just have always used ATI and am used to there quirks.

That monitor's resolution wouldn't need the 640 version. You could easily go with the 320 version and max out oblivion. They have dropped to around $250US after rebates.

1900GT, good card for the money. Performs well in the NFSU (EDIT: NFS series oops - typo) (better than the 7900gs) , and trounces the 1650XT and 7600Gt. But in most things the 7900gs can beat it. But I come back to the price again - if your considering upgrading then great, get it.

nice yeah the price I got was not to impressive, to bad the egg does not deliver to canada.. I wanted the 640 because I think it would be more future ready for other games I like like RTS, when I buy a card its got to last me a couple years at most/least... lol

I guess I could try to overclock my card but some games dident like it overclocked.. I would like to overclock it in the bios though Oo

who knows how to mod a video card bios? I have the acelerox2 so I think its time I overclocked my card for good. :)

whats the NFSU series

I have a x1900GT rev.2 and I'm pretty sure you can't flash them as they don't share the same pcb as the XT anymore. I've read some of the rev.1 could be flashed but only if they have a certain GPU ID. I also have a x1950pro and can't really see a difference in games but I guess they have around a 10% advantage over the GT in some apps. They both OC like crap:(
You can run any two x1900gts in crossfire through software now and even mix them with the x1950pros. there is a hit to performance with software, can't remember how much. I think you made the right choice with the GT I kinda like mine more then the x1950pro.
