As far as I can tell by what I've read around the web, is that the XT can be a PE easy enough, but the pro has 12 pipes instead of 16 and on the 850 they are lazer cut, so I doubt that there would be an easy way to mod it, also I'm not sure if the pro would use 1.6ns chips, as it would only need 2.0ns for the speeds it runs stock at.
You would be far better to get an 850XT for the small price difference, thats what I did and it runs great as a XTPE

Wait, so you bought the model you have in your above link and the pipelines weren't cut? Did it have 1.6 ns memory? Did you succesfully get it softmodded?

so is it true that you cant mod it to XT? it has same R480 core on it..

but we'll find out soon what this card is..
i have owned X800PRO with 12pipes and i did get some very nice scores out of it
R480 should oc a bit better and my hopes are high :)
the X700PRO wr @ 3dmark 2005 isnt enough, gotta own everyone with X850PRO aswell :p

There's really no telling how well any card will oc. The best oc'ing card I have ever owned was an X800Pro non-VIVO from Sapphire. I got it to 555/585, and this was up from its' stock 475/450, and on air to boot. I just flashed this X850XT last night to an XTPE. It won't do over 550MHz on the core, before or after the flash. Hell, I have heard of some cards that would not oc no more than a couple of MHz from there stock clocks. Talking about some m8's being pissed, geesh! Here thay purchase this card because they have read where others have been able to overclock it really well, only to get theirs and their screen starts going crazy only from going up 2MHz in clock speed. HEHE Kinda funny in a sick way. HEHE But, you never know until you get what you get.

Actually that is abnormally great clock speeds. In checking the voltages on this X850XT before the flash to XT PE, I noticed the vmemvoltage was 2.09v. It is supposed to be 2.00v's according to the guide here at TechPowerup. I believe this is why my memory will clock to 610MHz when the chips are rated for 600MHz. I was hoping that flashing it to an XT PE would allow me to oc the core a bit more, but it didn't. I have been thinking about doing a pencil vmod on the vcore. Right now the core voltages is 1.41v. That voltage didn't change after the flash. After reading the guide to vmod the X850, I notice that these newer cards has an over voltage protect and the resistor that regulates this is R1596. If I raise the voltage on the core to 1.49v to 1.51v's, I don't think I would need to worry about bringing the resistance down on the R1596 resistor. If I wanted to go any higher, then I may very well need to. But bottom line here is that your card is an incredible oc'er. Congrats!

My core won't do but 555MHz and this is pushing it. Anything over and it crashes. My vcore voltages is 1.41v's. Can you check to see what you are running at. I have been thinking about bumping it up to 1.55v's. I ran my last card there. It bit the dust after 6 months, but I am not sure why. It just quit allowing the cpu to post. If I do a vmod on the vcore, I may just bump it to 1.5v's. Just curious as to what your stock core volts are?

hi guys..
i did run 3dmark 05 @ 620/640 wo any artifacts yesterday.
no extra cooling on the card..
i also oc-d cpu to 10x245 and mem to 245mhz / 2-2-2-5

so, the score was over 6,5k
pretty impressive, it blows my vmoded X800PRO record by ~150points ;)
with water, vmod and decent ramsinks ill try to get pass 7k :p

afterall, 3dmark 05 likes me, i had X700PRO wr pretty long time in my hands
but not anymore - but hey, i have my X700PRO and winter is coming :D

Well, this is true. But I was hoping yours was higher than mine to explain your great oc on your core. Wishful thinking eh? HEHE Stock core voltage on this X850 is 1.41v's. And now that I think about it, the stock core voltage on my X800XT was also 1.41v's. So I'd say you are correct.

Stock voltage on the memory is supposed to be 2.00v's. And it was on my X800XT. But this one is running at 2.09v's, which probably is what is allowing me to clock my memory to 611MHz, which is still way lower than yours and the other m8's. Btw, are you water cooling? If you are, this could explain it and I wouldn't feel as if I got a lemon for oc'ing. HEHE

Excellent oc on the 3200+ m8. WOW! And a 270MHz FSB! This shows you have one heck of a mobo/memory combo m8. Congrats! The best I have done on my rig was 265MHz FSB @ 2.4GHz X 10 on air.

actually the cpu is too crap, i hoped it can do 2800mhz but no, it cant get pass 2600mhz :(
mem is pretty good, it does that with 3,5v and it should go a bit higher(280mhz would be nice :D )
mobo in crappy too - it does all kind a tricks that i dont like..

btw the PRO to XT mod is 100% impossible?

edit: heh, 3dmark 03 and 05 wr-s are mine :D
and it took less than day...
