AMD Athlon XP system not going to POST

Well Its a Athlon XP 1.8/1.6 and 256 DDR 400 RAM, ATI 9550 XL. You turn it on, the standby light flashes once, no post beep, no video. :banghead:

I have come to my whits end about this....any suggestions?

That is weird.

Sounds like the motherboard to me. If it was faulty memory you would still get a POST code. Although if something was wrong with the power supply it could cause a similar problem. The only thing you can do is start swapping out and testing spare components if you can. Maybe test your parts in a friend's computer.

That is what I was going to do. What is odd is I used to have this same exact system as my main system, worked great. I sold it to my friend then I got it back and now it doesn't work for him. Do you think the motherboard could not be getting enough power?

It's very possible, but the fact that it stay on with all the fans running makes me think the power supply is fine. Although, it would definitely be a good idea to check it and make sure.

Yep, a million times, even tried different batteries thinking maybe it had somehow died.

Disconnect absolutely everything, reset the CMOS and remove the battery. When turning it back on just have the very bare minimum in the system, RAM, CPU, graphics - no HDD, USBs etc.

i have a similar prob with a sktA board, turns on, lights up, no one's home lol, i think it could be the bios is corrupted, never got round to tryin to reflash,

That means either your bios was setup incorrectly, or something you took out doesn't work right, obviously.
