System Specs

0.27 Beta 2

- Added monitoring window
- Added basic overclocking for R600 (please test and feedback, how about R600 CF?)
- Added detection and monitoring for RV63x
- NO VISTA RELATED CHANGES (yet)

http://www.techpowerup.com/wizzard/ATITool_0.27b2.exe

This is definitely not something close to a final release. It is just to get something out to you people to play with. Also feedback for the monitoring window is encouraged. Test if it has all your sensors, labelled correctly.

Just making sure of something here W1z, I want to disable driver voltage transitions to use voltage control, right?

yep, otherwise ccc will probably override your voltages on clock change (feel free to test)

One more question, do you know what the stock 3d voltages are for the 2900, W1z? I just want to confirm that it's setting them right.

Whenever I change clocks, I lose my fan and voltage settings, and have to set them again, manually. Also, my profiles aren't loading fan and voltage settings, either.

Anybody have any recommended voltage settings for the 2900? Just wondering what is working best for everyone.

This is starting to suck, I mean for real. This beta does the same thing as the 27 beta 1 I haven't even got it to start without crashing the computer. Its gotta be a X1800XT 512 thing or something. All I get is a garbled screen and then it reboots to a lovely BSOD. Running Vista 32 bit.

With my 1800XT, I had to kill the ATI Hotkey Poller service, and adjust voltages and clock manually. Automatic 3d switching wouldn't work for me.

I did all that except changing the voltages, cause I have yet to get ati tool running long enough to have anything to adjust. Like I said it reboots as soon as I click on the ATI tool icon, lol.

Got two 2900XT, if i have monitoring window opened, then switch to second card, ati tool hangs then crashes. Also overclocking dont work, or at least i dont know how to overclock, it keeping 2D clocks (vista 32bit here).
Fan control works fine though, thank you W1zzard

ATITool apparently doesn't "play nice" with Vista just yet. Have you tried it on XP?

I set fan speed to 100% on the HD 2900XT and hit apply and was startled when I heard this roaring coming from my PC. I kid you not about this. That fan is a powerhouse! No way was this fan ever set to 100% from driver level CCC. And, none of the reviewers know the true potential of this beast to not only cool your HD 2900XT but your PC case as well (if the cover is removed). If you have a OEM HS on your HD 2900XT please set it to 100% (ignoring the noise) and see how well it cools your video card.

Explanation of the noise:
There was no fan noise but pure noise of the fan moving the air. Because I no longer have the shroud on its hard to gauge cooling potential. However, I could feel the air coming from the side of the PC case (I KID YOU NOT).
At 40% is begins to sound the same as before with just CCC. I am still trying to figure out the OC voltages...

Yeah its one mean fan, at 100% it is unbelievable how much air it shifts, it keeps my temps down by 20c over stock speeds and the noise is simply the loudest i have ever heard out of any fan, the noise does not bother me and now i have fan control, its time to get down to some major overclocking.

Cheers Wizz, great job.

Yeah, its no "fan noise" per say but the noise of the air being moved. I cannot hear the fan, I simply hear the air being pushed. There is some serious OC potential for this video card with just some minor tweaking of fan control and OEM HS

Edit: People who have reviewed this video card already have no scope as to the noise level of the air being pushed. And, I am glad they don't know about it either. Simply because it appears that the original fan speed was much lower.

OK installed now... one question about the HD2900 overlclocking part:

What's doing the voltage transisition for driver ( disable or let it)... this will say the ATI tool override the voltage transition do by bios of the card?

Setting my 2900XT to 3D-Mode under WinXP works. Monitoring ist also flawless.
Testing the Fan-Settings:
1. 100% Fan-Setting blew me away(btw. 38% is the standard "high" setting)
2.Automatic Fan control is way to rough(changes directly to 50% when the desired temperatur is reached)
3.There is no way it is really just 7% from "low" to "high", the differece in noise is way to high. I would like to have some intermediate Setting but there is none.
4.Still trying to keep the Fan at 31%(the "low"-setting) at 3D. Let´s see if my card can handle it(what temps are still ok? for now i set 31% until 87°C are reached).
For now i tried to keep the noise down. Maybe I will try some oc when I´m back from my two weeks trip to spain.

doesn't look like 2900xt crossfire in xp is working either, 2nd cards clocks show up in 2d speeds only, you can set the clocks, but it reverts back to 2d stock
Thanks anyway though, looking good and great progresss
