Official 7.9s are out, ladies! Time for a new run of synthetic benchmark tests! ;)

BTW, the 7.9 CCC still does not allow OC'ing past 857 core & 1179 memory clocks! :( That basicaly means that for folks like me, overclocking at all is rather pointless (unless you believe a 7MHz OC on the core is something to brag about)...

I've already got them installed, it's just that I would need to redownload 3Dmark06 again and install it. I've since gone through a complete reformat shortly after I did my initial 3DMark06 test run and haven't bothered to put it back on as of yet.

Hey Guys,

I've done some tests with my Laptop, a Toshiba A200-17O (powered by an Ati Mobility HD2600)

Here's the System:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 (1.8ghz and "only" 2MB L2-Cache)
Ati HD2600 @ 700mhz core/ 570mhz memory. (Default: 500mhz core/400mhz memory) mod Catalyst 7.9
2024mb DDR2-667mhz ram Dual-Channel
Windows Vista Home Premium (I guess this one kills some of the points too, especially on the older versions which have some seriously strange hick-ups in the CPU tests (partially 0 fps) or the "Mother Nature" test of 03.)

So, I guess everything relevant has been told. Here are my results, enjoy:

3DMark 03: 10472
3DMark 05: 7692
3DMark 06: 4133 (Just for the record, as this is the only one I tested without any OCing, it has 3180 non-OCed)

I'm pretty satisfied with these scores as the Laptop was actually rather cheap compared to other similiar set-ups (950€, in the US it would most likeley sell for 1000$ I presume) and performs quite well in real-life gaming environment (e.g. Colin McRae Dirt runs at ~25fps at "High" (except shadows and particles set to medium) @ 1024x768, 2xAA.

Next to OC would be the CPU, but since noone knows the PLLs yet, I'll have to wait (not opening up my new Laptop just yet :ohwell: )

That is all,

Good night to y'all.

Oh, before I forget it, this would be the Vista Performance Marks for the system (overclocked, GFX1 was 4.9 and GFX2 (Games) was 4.8 before OC) [sorry for the german]:

I downloaded it from ati.com and modded it with the MobilityModder3.NET (otherwhise it won't install on laptops) With other words, it's just the usual Desktop Catalyst running on a notebook :)

LoL! I found this rather funny and thought I'd share it with the rest of you folks...

With the latest review from TechSpot on 09/12/07 regarding the 8600GTS vs the GDDR3 HD2600XT, his conclusion was as follows :

Steven Walton said:
Therefore, in our comparison between the Radeon HD 2600XT and the GeForce 8600 GTS, we have found the Radeon X1950 Pro to be the winner, go figure

The test was soley between an ASUS Geforce 8600GTS and a VisionTek HD2600XT GDDR3 512MB video cards. If you read the full conclusion, you'll notice that he brings the Radeon X1950PRO as well as the Geforce 7900GS from previous testing into the picture to come up with the quote above and thus the final conclusion! :ohwell: :D

i wan't to mod the max clocks

I have seen many 2600XT cards from Sapphire who haven't this lock of 857 MHz core clock. Can anybody confirm that these cards clock higher than 857 MHz?
Can someone upload a bios from a sapphire 2600XT 512MB (DDR3)? I have got the Palit/xpertvision 2600XT Super 512MB and this card is locked @ 857 MHz.

is it possible that only cards by palit/xpertvision are locked at 857 MHz? Do you know where to get a Bios from another manufacturar for the 2600XT 512MB (DDR3)?

If thats true, then why aren't they SHARING it!!! :wtf:

(BTW, mine is locked @ 857 as well which means a massive 7MHz core overclock in any program thats remotely compatible with the HD2600 series, which isn't many).

haha....selfish. Would it be possible to like solder a 6pin PCI-e connector in to the spot on the card where 1 should be...i noticed my sapphire had the spot..but no connector was soldered to it...would the extra power help the oc??

I don't think so either... But you can't really exclude anything. From what I hear whenever you go over 857mhz with the AMDGPUClocktool you get a black screen, this could be an indication that the GPU just simply ain't supplied with enough current to run at such high Frequencies... Other than that it could also be the tool itself... I had some crashes with it aswell, no matter what Clocks I inputted (even reverting them to default once caused the black screen). Try to overclock the card right after you restart windows, this tends to give me the best results with the overclocking tool.

By the chance, I've got a question... Basically what limits Overclocking is the Voltage and the Temperature? I'm asking because the AMDGPUTool shows me a temperature of 53.000°C after playing for 2 hours straight, which seems rather "low" to me (with alot of room open for further overclocking)... If by any chance a new ATITool with full support of 2xxx-series and Voltage control comes out, would you think it is safe to go further up with the clocks (I'd leave the GPU at 700mhz, I'm fine with that, but I'd like to get the memory to 700mhz aswell but it's capped at 570mhz because I think it's low on voltage).

Just to remember you guys, I'm on hd2600 mobility, so don't wonder about the low clocks ^^ (Default: 500mhz core/400mhz memory)

Try to overclock the card right after you restart windows, this tends to give me the best results with the overclocking tool.

it freezes, no black screen

By the chance, I've got a question... Basically what limits Overclocking is the Voltage and the Temperature? it's locked duo to a bios bug according to w1z, and that hd2600 mobility was severe cutted in clocks :(
