USB to IDE, SATA, EIDE and hot swapable for 19.99

I picked this up on newegg for 19.99 USD and i love it. you can hot swap IDE SATA & EIDE hard drives from windows for backup, data transfer, or whatever your needs are. and the data transfers are fast too!!! here are some pics...

Just though i would let everyone know about it cause i fix friends computer all the time and i hate pulling thier hard drives and putting them in my case all the time to back stuff up. and this is really easy. and depending on your bios, if you can boot to usb, you can boot to the drive aswell. although i had wicked driver issues and would not load windows, but maybe a linux distro would work. let me know what you guys think. here is the link to newegg where it is located... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002

yeah maybe a IDE and a SATA but i am not sure though. it only comes with a power connector for one drive. but I imagine that ya could just use a PSU and do 2.

That's awesome. For external backup storage you don't need to pay a premium for a special drive (kinda like mine )

I've been getting spam about these things for the past 2 years or so. Also, USB is hotswappable per definition.

(...) USB is hotswappable per definition.
You mean SATA is hotswapable?

Indeed, but there's a catch; the drives are hotswapable but most controllers aren't.
Those integrated in Intel ICHs / nVIDIA and AMD MCPs that is.

no you can hot swap IDE drives too. ya just click on the "safely remove hardware" usb thing by the clock and stop the usb device. and unplug, swap it for another one and back in buisness!!! no need to power off!! :D

this is like a external hardrive with out a case....

i used this encloser adaptor for data backup or restore for few years already it work the same way as what you guys mention.

This usb cable works the same way as a HD encloser, except it dosnt have the case... only the adaptor..

btw im suprise your HD didnt fried for laying on the carpet like that =P

it was only on the carpet for a min or 2 and i like it because i can back up peoples hard drives onto my computer before i format them and then restore it back after reinstalation. makes it eaiser than taking my case apart and pulgging it in with ide or sata and then transfering and then shutting down, remove drive, boot up, install thier OS shutdown, plug in hard drive, boot up, transfer all files back, shut down, unlpug drive, boot back up...bloah blah blah. hot swap is kick ass. :D but yeah it is similar to external hard drive. but i can plug it into any hard drive, so that makes it better in my opinion! :D :toast:

Man, i've had one of these (without sata) for about 3 years now, i love it!

I bring an old 100gig hard drive to college, and use it as my usb key. Bring in lots of games! Unfortunatly the computers aren't quite man enough for battlefield 2 :(

We've had one of those for a while, they are REALLY useful. I've had harddrives die on me loads in the past few months, and that device makes it so easy to backup and recover all the data.

They really are worth the money.
