GSkill, Kingston and OCZ aren't as good as Crucial and Corosair, also evga is more of a budget video card than XFX and BFG. PC P&P seems to be a good brand, as does powercolor. I know someone here can attest to OCZ power supplies failing.

G.Skill shames Corsair memory. Corsair quit using the good chips in most of their memory kits, even the Dominators. And OCZ has a few good lines, like the Reapers, and Flex XLC.

And eVGA isn't a budget card. Lifetime warranty plus the trade up program makes for a hell of a deal, if you ask me.

Btw, it's Corsair, not Corosair. lol

Yes they did. Google it. Most of their kits ship with Promos chips now, instead of D9s. This wouldn't be problem, except they still charge D9 prices.

Corsair didn't stop using good chips... They just stopped constantly using good chips... So you kinda have to find out what chips are used on your ram revision.

The problem is, they even use different chips on the same parts number. You can buy 2 of the same kit, and 1 will be Promos, while the other will be D9. I think that is shady. Different chips should equal different part number.

Well ya I know... Thats why what you have to look for is the stupid revision number now... But good luck getting the revision number from an online dealer like newegg..

Heh is that XMS2 v1.4?

They wont tell you its 8.1 with promos chips.... *I got screwed that way after ordering 2 sets of xms2 with Micron chips v1.4 and then getting a v8.1 with promos crap!

If anything add Mushkin and OCZ, I think some GSkill is pretty good too

Depends. They still make decent memory with a good warranty, and even the Promos kits achieve their rated speed, but they don't have nearly the headroom of the D9s. But I question their business practices

I'll agree to that, I have even the Promo's ram rated 4-4-4-12 @ 1.9 DDR2 675
Running 4-4-4-12 @ 1.9 DDR2 775 perfectly stable, I think I would have to knock it up to 1.95 or 2.0 to get it stable @ 800...

But my Micron set will go to 4-4-4-11 @ 1.9 @ DDR2 800
and will go to 4-4-4-12 @ 2.0 @ DDR2 900

Now the ram is warrantied to 2.1 volts but I don't like running things too hot.

So they are not bad.... But yes the practices are not the best these days.

i found this story i read a while back quite interesting, its the dude from voodoopc actually praising corsair for not swapping out to different chips without saying so, my guess is its a swipe at ocz, as they went to cheaper chips on some (but not all) of their sets of ram

If someone else posted this I would catch on immediately... it's called the Quality List and then you open it up you see different parts (like memory and motherboards) and brand names, and since it's the quality list whoever is looking will think "oh these must be good brands". I don't see how it isn't self explanitory.
