a frustrating experience for sure.. folks have been running this card but possibly only in vista..
i thought the existing cats would simply work.. they are the latest.. but they dont..
the install for xp setting on the card cd dosnt work.. it bombs instantly with weird errors.. the downloaded cats seem to work but soon say cant find a driver to match your hardware or operating system..
trying the download the latest drivers on the cd option takes u to the ati site which dosnt list the card as existing.. he he
sooooo.. useing the old fashioned way and pointing windows at the driver folder on the cd gets a driver loaded.. running the driver set-up option on the cd produces the instant bomb the same as running the set up properly..
i have been thru the cd and installed everything else seperately.. it works..
something is wrong thow cos none of the 3dmarks work.. at least none from 2003 onwards.. the early ones do work.. the later ones bomb at the start up screen right at the beginning they dont even load..
the lightmark benchmark works and scores 213 way higher than any other ati card i have seen.. check the lightmark thread..
basically the only things that dont work are the later 3dmark benches.. 2001 se scores 41616.. anything after that dosnt load..
all the games i have tried seem to work.. the card runs okay at 855 core 2500 memory.. i never tried higher.. not much point without a valid benchmark to test the results with..
there is quite clearly an xp driver install problem at the moment.. at least with my machine there is..
out of curiosity i tried the driver for vista install it got quite well into things before it told me i had the wrong operating system.. the driver for xp install option just bombs right at the start..
not much help but i think the card is good when they get things sorted.. why it runs everything but the 3dmarks i have no idea.. i recon its to do with needing to read the system specs and it cant..
it plays cod 4 nice at 1600 x 1054.. but then again so did my 1900xtx.. it did produce the good (ati card wise) lightmark score.. double what my 1900xtx produced.. 213 as opposed to 101..
soo.. mixed results..

. I have seen 8800GTX's only score around the 11-12k mark. I know benchies don't mean everything but good scores non the less.
