im speaking WRT o/c

when a 5000BE o/c 's better than a 6400BE (when teh main purpose for a BE is overclocking) it becomes a waste.

I would hope you know the 6400 BE is built around the Windsor core just like the 6000+ and FX chips were as the 5000 BE uses the Brisbane, a much cooler and power efficient core than the Windsor

It's sort of the same thing with my old sempron. I can get an upgrade, but I'd be going back to 130nm and use an older core revision.

I would assume due to the bigger L2 cache on the 6000+ and 6400+ since that and the cores would be the only difference

If that is the skt 754 board I believe AMD made 3000+, 3200+ and even a mobile 4000+ that used the Venice core, 90nm. The 3200+ Venice I have in a Asus M-ATX 6100 chipset killed @ 2.8Ghz!!

I think the black editions are a plus for both companies. They don't have to "waste" time finding the chips top speed.... they let us do that. And, in turn, we get a cheaper cpu--slightly more expensive than a non-BE, but still.... it's pretty cheap. AMD should just pull a fast one on intel, and unlock ALL of their chips, after all, what else can they do? Pray for some market share?
