Around 240-250USD. Most e-tailers are selling the more well known brands for well over £150/300+usd

I've never heard of palit.. I wouldnt buy a no name brand ever.

It's not a no-name brand. Been around for years at lest in Europe. It's a cheap brand, but innovative one, like that own design 8800GT that has 3-phase power thingy. (http://www.xpertvision.com/en/press_center/2007_product_news/xv_news_20071128.htm)

http://www.palit.biz/
http://www.xpertvision.com/

Same company.

This is the card I'm waiting too, here's the best review in the net for this:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=1801582

This tweaktown version is pretty useless, as they don't pull the card apart :)
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1255/palit_geforce_8800gt_sonic_graphics_card/index.html

Oh and do note that there is a 8800GT with the reference desing too, DON'T get that. The one that reads SONIC is 100% with 3-phase and that better cooler, the cheaper non overclocked might be too, but I'd make sure before I buy.

It's worth mentioning that Palit are the company that manufacture the cards for Ganward, so they're not exactly no-name crap.

I've ordered the Sonic version purely because I'm not sure what the cheaper one actually is. At least this one is guaranteed to have the better power circuitry and cooler.

Somehow I doubt anybody will be able to get these cards at those prices though. Amazon tend to just cancel orders in instances like this where the price looks too good to be true. I guess only time will tell.

Nobody is sure. On the manufacturer’s page for the regular card there are two pictures. One looks like the Sonic one, with the uprated cooler. The other one looks like another run-of-the-mill reference card. Scan simply used a picture of the Sonic card for both, which means nothing. So nobody is sure what the regular card actually is. It could be a purely reference card, it could be a downclocked Sonic, or something in between.

Cool! I will wait eagerly for the pics (honestly, I will... sad I know). If it's got the good cooler and the 3-phase power then I might cancel my amazon order and go for the basic one after all. Somehow I doubt amazon will honour any of these purchases though :shadedshu

Yeah I know how disappointed I will be if they don't honour their price..
Whats the point of putting it up for sale in the first place then -.-
From what I've read from news bulletin's about the "new palit with bla bla" it should be the better cooler. *crosses fingers and prays* I will tell you.. if it comes :p

I can't test it until at least 10th of Jan though :( Thats when all my other parts should be in by

Edit: Tigger69 .. :D:D:D "These goods have successfully arrived at the branch ready for delivery."

I managed to grab it before they ran out by the looks of it.. you scared me for a sec. :rockout:

Yay ^_^ It arrived quite early today (just before 10am) and came packaged good :D (Especially for free delivery for me from Scan)

It did scare me a bit when the box looked different until I pulled it out of the bubble packaging and realised it was an "Xpertvision" box.. (it's the same from Palit but different sticker..)

Well it looks the same as well so :p
Here's some attached pictures!

I'm not sure if thats the good cooler or bad cooler.. (this is my first rig I'm building) so is it the reference cooler or not?

Cheers in advance ^^ :respect::respect::respect:

(P.s Had to reduce the quality so I could fit in with attachment requirements - it makes it look poo :( )

Happy new year :)

Rizzy2DarQ: it's the sonic cooler and should be with "3-Phase Power Supply" too, as it's their own design. All reference coolers are single slot and look something like this (with some stickers on maybe) http://www.3dnews.ru/_imgdata/img/2007/10/27/63979.jpg

Wan't me one of those too.
