What if compared with pci-express soundcards for notebooks?

If you have decent headphones it will sound a lot better.

Im in the market for an AMP for my HD 555 but $150 is way too much, still trying to get a friend of mine to build a CMoy amp for me

You could just go for the AirHead that is only $99.99. Same amp as the BitHead just without the DAC.
