okay, I got a new system. evga 780i mobo, e8400 Core 2 @3.6, 4GB OCZ 1000 RAM, 2x500GB 32MB cache Seagate Hard Drives striped, Auzentech X-Fi Prelude and a Galaxy 8800GT OC. Vista 64 Ultimate. For the life of me I can't get it to run and I don't mean crappy frame rates. It won't start. The screen goes black and then nothing. I either have to CNT-ALT-DLT to get the task manager up or it pops up that Crysis has stopped working. Tried this with and without the patch and tried DX9 and DX10. I've been trying to send a message to EA about this but their sites been crapped out for sending in problems for a week now.

What Video drivers are you running ?
I had same problem with 169.25 game works with 169.28 for me and I tried 171.16 beta drivers worked fine on Crysis but crashed in ETQW.

Its a shame they can not get it right first time..

okay, odd thing. I installed XtremeG 169.61 drivers and went to play Crysis. I started up the game by putting the DVD in the drive and clicking Play when the autoplay popped up. Ran no problem. If I try to start the game by clicking on the icon in the GAMES folder then it craps out like I said before. Same with if I try to start it by clicking on the crysis64 in the bin64 folder - black screen crash. Oh, well, I can at least get it running. Out of curiosity, anyone know if it automatically plays in 64bit mode if it's on a 64bit OS?

yea i get the same problem, it starts in a window, then the screen goes black, and then the monitor says no signal, and it then goes to desktop with crysis in a window, still black, and then somethin about crysis crashing, but i also get somethin in the bottom rite of my screen sayin nvlldm or somethin has encountered and error but has recovered.
i've reinstalled crysis, tried without the patch dx10 and dx9, then i tried with the patch adn same problem, the only difference between dx9 and dx10 is on dx9 i actually c a screen that i thk would say NVIDIA, and show the nivida "the way its meant to b played" thing, but i don't actually know since that's when it freezes. also, with dx9 when i try to run it, it doesn't recover like dx10 and instead shows the blue screen of death.it doesn't matter if i try to run it from inserting the dvd and then clicking play or using the desktop shortcut, same results everytime.
i kno its not my computer, or at least it shouldn't be check my specs to left. this a new pc i put together and the drivers that came with my GPU cards was 169.01, i tried 169.25 using the driver update search engine on nvidia. i'll try dlin the 169.28 when i get home, but i saw this and figured i'd ask for help

yea, no kidding. I wanted a new high end gamng rig so I wouldn't have to put money into it for a while again (yea, right) and everything else plays great. I'm actually not done with my build, this is just a temp system. I'm waiting for the quad core 9450 and to see what nVidia's new cards are going to be like.
Anyways, a_ump, have you tried starting the game from the DVD menu? If I try to start the game from any of the things in the folder, or from the Games startup then I crash. But if I start off of the DVD menu then it works fine. I haven't tried the drivers yet, I'm going to download them now and check them out.

okay, tried the 169.28 drivers and got the same results. Only way I can start the game is with the DVD menu. Every other way (crysis folder or games window, etc) crashes. I can start and play the game at least with the DVD menu, but that won't give me 64bit from what I'm told
