Unfortunately the fuses show that you already have the max. possible pipes (8 pipes).

Which bios could i flash in order to increase performance? :) can't i try to unlock 16pipes? (If yes, which bios is needed for R423 With Samsung 2.0?)

Thanks ;)

It got red PCB

Here'are my Fuses
CORE R423
GPU CLOCK: 475.00MHz
MEM CLOCK: 490.00MHz

0xFFFFFF9D

Is there any pipeline i can revive? In negative way, what bios could i flash in order to increase performance as lot's of users here did?

Thanks ;)
Hmm, it sounds like you are referring to what I posted here about various X800 GT cards: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=6056

im 99.9% sure that atitool lies
you have r430
try to overclock ur card - it shouldnt go above 450 mhz core
flash x800xl bios - for my r430 fireblade it works perfectly

he is right... Atitool only shows what is in the bios.. you have to overclock it to find out if you really have a r480 core...

oc is over for gto2 from sapphire?!

i feel pretty pissed. i got my ati sapphire x800 gto2 today!

first of all, there was a message in the case, that i should connect the card to the power supply before using it ... and there is an extra connector cable added too for doing so. BUT there is no connector on the card ... :wtf: ... i feel pretty fooled by that.

the card is green and the cooler is like every other gto2 cooler from sapphire (i think).

then i used the atitool and it says, that i have an r430, the fuses "lines" (information) are like they should be with the F's at the right position, so i should be able to get it to 16 pipes ... i can post a screenshot later ... btw. which bios should i use now?

BUT ... i didn't get, what i thought that i will get ... okay, the card was "just" 170eur incl. delievery but i think someone should warn, that it could be that the new gto2 from sapphire are not the same than days before ...

greetings from germany ...

So there's a green one, too? Hmm, you could maybe try overclocking it a little with ATITool. If it doesn't get anywhere near 500 on the core, then it is indeed R430. If you are planning on returning it, you might not want to try that, though.

returning? i don't know if i could/should, because there is a policy, that they will give me less money back, because it is used (u can see the scratches of the copper pins of the pci slot) ... otherwise, the card is not like it should be ... it is not logical to put the powercable with it and not beeing able to use it ...

atitool: checked ... right now i am at 415mhz core and 530mhz memory ... bad, isn't it :wtf: i get artefacts with 420/530 ... damn ...

can somebody check the bios? i will up it as .txt (but it really is bin ... ) ...

OK, it definately has R430 then. Don't flash that card to the regular X800 GTO2 bios. Instead you could go here to either mod the bios yourself or have someone else do it for you: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=8060

Sapphire has been shipping GTO2s with r430 cores and all come with 16 pipes; the only way to distinguish between the r430 ones and r480s is the VIVO and power connector and the color of the pcb. I would return it if at all possible as you will be much happier with the r480 based version.

i think that this policy is a little bit crappy of sapphire ... one should know, what you get for your money. and if they decide to make a "limited" gto2 edition so these cards should all be the same ... and not limited within the limited editons?!?!

i think it WAS limited and now they just keep one selling the old junk to people like me ...

not okay ...

My new system came with a Sapphire X800GTO (256MB DDR3). ATITool and RaBIT both identify the core as an R480 (device ID 5D4F) but core/memory overclocking with ATITool couldn't get beyond 407/525 without artifacts at a max GPU temp of 71.5C. Looks like the core is really an R423, correct? On the bright side, CONFIG_DIE_FUSES=0xFFFFFFFF and CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES=0xFFFFFF9F so unlocking to 16 pipelines should be possible. Finally, is there a recommended BIOS upgrade to squeeze any extra out of this card?

Thanks in advance.

Only 407/525 and artifacts, whit 71.5C?? there could be a problem.... Try flushing a 16p bios and see how its working.

The best it managed was:
2006-03-05 01:37:45 Clocks set to: 415.38 / 488.08
2006-03-05 01:37:49 Artifacts detected after 04:06.87. 6 pixels don't match.

I told ATITool to stop scanning after 1hr without artifacts, figuring that would be a good enough test for stabilty.

Try flushing a 16p bios and see how its working.

Which would you recommend? I had a quick look at the various X800 offerings and quickly became lost.

Thanks,
Alan

I dont think flashing bios to 16p is a good idea because of the temperature. It seems that you have just passive cooling on your card. Buy a better cooler or add active cooler if yours is really passive. You will see a big difference.
Your card will not work with 16p if your present temperature hits 71°C.

Well, AlanJB i think is better to edit your bios to 16p whit a hexeditor, than save it whit rabit
and see how is working..... If you dont know how to edit, just send me the bios and i'll do it for you.

That temperature was the maximum reached during the ATITools 'Find Max Core' test, which as I understand it deliberately heats up the GPU. The card has the stock Sapphire kidney-shaped cooler unit and the fan has been verified as working. The current temperature is sitting at a steady 36C.
