hmm, strange. Prepare an ms-dos bootdisk with atiflash 3.09 on it, and boot from that, as if you were going to flash, then save the bios using this command:

atiflash -s 0 bios.bin

once you have it post it as an attachment in a zip file, and i'll modify it for you ;)

Hi Nella. Seems like yours can be unlocked to 12 pipelines at least, just wait for someone to modify your bios. I have the same card as you, refer to my post on http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=5367&page=149

Anyway, mine is still 8 pipelines after bios flashing. Now waiting to connect the bridge, will post the result soon.

Hi all.
I got an Powercolor X800 GTO 256MB [475Core,450Mem] (AGP) fewer days ago and now i want try to flash it.

Device ID: 4A49
Chip name: R420

My Fuses are :
CONFIG_DIE_FUSES : 0xEFF2EFFF
CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES : 0xFFFFFF1E

Memory is from Hynix (Hynix KOR HY5RS573225 FP-2 543A)
Is this 2 ns or 1.6 ns?

I haven' found any BIOS which would fit to my card, everywhere you only find BIOS Files for Samsung Memory, not Hynix..

How many chances do i have to get the 16 Pipes? -I read it is possible to Hardmod (Lasercut) and then see if the fuses change to F. Is that right?
Can anybody help and explain everything to a real noob?

Thx you very much,
Lacos

Alexwsk, here you are modded to 12 pipes BIOS. Use the modified flashrom which could be downloaded from here: http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/100
Use the following command line: flashrom -f -p 0 X800SE12.bin

If you still have 8 pipes after the flashing you have to remove the cooler and to locate the bridge area. After that you have to connect the right bridge. (In the above link you can see the left bridge laser cutted but on your core it should be the right or both). 12 pipes will be obtained with connection of the right bridge and if the left is cutted you can connect it also. If the left bridge is originaly cutted and you connect it (also the right) take the fuses again and post them (after the connection).

Hi dolf, just flashing the bios didn't unlock any pipelines. The only difference is CONFIG_ROM_FUSES changed to 0xA861.

After that, I asked my friend to connect the right bridge for me (there's no laser cutted for left bridge). He is an electronics technician, so he soldered the right bridge for me. Now, I only have 4 active pipelines left  . What has happenned? The fuses did changed to as below.

I've tried uninstalled all ATI related drivers/catalyst/ATITool and reinstall it, but it's still the same, only 4 active pipelines left. What else can I do now? Should I reflash the bios with the original or modified version or should I remove the solder? Thx

Check the performance and see if it is any different.

Hi ShadowFlare. I've checked using 3DMark05, the performance has dropped from previous 3943 to 2793 (both with overclocked). The GPU idle temperature has also dropped from 48C to 43C. So, what to do now?

Seems about what I would expect with 4 pipelines... I tried it once by modifying my bios to make it use only 4.

x800 gto

Hello,
I'm running a Sapphire X800 GTO AGP which runs the R420 Chipset and I'm really unsure whether or not there's anything I can do to increase the performance of my card. Right now it appears as though I'm running on 8 pipelines, is it possible for me to unlock more? I really appreciate it if anyone would give me a hand and if there is anymore information I need to provide let me know.

Sapphire X800 GTO AGP

Chip Type R420

Config_die_fuses 0xEFF36FFF
config_substrate_fuses 0xFFFFFE9D
Config_ROM_Fuses 0x22
GB_Pipe_select 0x25650

Feel free to email me about it:

noahwood@gmail.com

Thanks in advance,
Noah Wood

Alexwsk your card shows very interesting result. For the first time I see C in the end of substrate fuses after the bridge connection. Obviously configuration of the 9 bridges (on the back side of the core) is different and connecting the right bridge results in locking of a quad. You have to remove the bridge (on the right) and to check the number ot the pipes. If everything is OK (8 pipes) come back with that news on the forum.
I have "crazy idea" and you have right to disagree with me. If connected bridge means less pipes why don't you try to cut the left bridge and to see what will happen with the registers (fuses). If that operation is not successful you can reconnect the bridge. First remove the right to be sure that the card works normally (no need to reflash the BIOS).

Hi dolf. My friend soldered across the laser cutted (1 straight line connecting the 2 dots and also laser cutted). Is this what caused the problem? I will remove the solder and see whether it goes back to normal. Btw, I've created a new thread for this, http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=11268

I don't believe that this is the problem but who knows. Remove the solder and see what will happen. Filling the laser cut could cause problems (short circuit to GND for instance) because these bridges are used to supply 3.3V from the motherboard to the core (power managing cirquits).

Hi dolf, I've removed the solder but the fuses data still remain unchange (same like having solder). Guess I'm dead for now :banghead:

I'll try to get hold of some conductive paint and then reconnect the bridge without touching the laser cut. Hope that'll solve the problem. Will update once I've done so.

Try to flash the original BIOS because I think that it also can be important.

Already did that,
Active Pipelines remained at 4
CONFIG_ROM_FUSES changed back to 0xA862
but CONFIG_SUBSTRATE_FUSES remained at 0xFFFFF61C and
GB_PIPE_SELECT remained at 0x10100

Hope this is not permanent. Will go and look for the conductive paint (damn, it's so hard to find one here in Malaysia).

Powercolor X800GTO 256mb, 475 / 450 ??????

I recently ordered a Powercolor X800GTO 256mb where the core is set to 475 and memory 450. Has anyone else had experience with this particular card or heard of it, and if so know if it is modable? I will be able to post screenshots Monday. Any help is appreciated.
