NOTE: this is only a test for my setup...the priciple is good for any setup...but the actual settings...are ONLY for my gear.
1. boot at 300x8 with your memory at the lowest divider ddr2400 i believe it is on our boards, see if it posts, if not go back in raise nb and htt-cpu link voltage. if it boots, reboot and boot at 310 and tell me if it boots there, while doing this keep the htt link at 5x not auto or antything less-i wanna know what the board can handle. i want the max for that number.
2. next i need to know what mem speeds you can achieve, this is easy, set your timings to 5,5,5,18 2t and change trc to 26. up voltage to 2.3 and try and keep some decent airflow on there, i have the same ram as you that i'm not using anymore with the upgrade but i've played with it, so trust me on this. boot at 250x8, and see if it boots, run mem test if you want but just see if it will get to the windows desktop, if it does reboot and go up in 10Mhz increments on the front side bus, when it does boot drop 10 mhz and run memetest for 20 miinutes*test 5* only. let me know what you get for a max here.
3. the very last is the cpu, this is by far the easiest, with temps in mind up the voltage to 1.5 and boot the computer with the htt at 5, memory at the lowest speed *ddr2 400 again* and the multi at 14, start at 240 and this will give you 3356, run orthos priority 1 not 10, i'm not interested in your final stable clock i just want to know if it can handle it. if it can, go up to 244 for the fsb and go for 10 minutes of orthos again. when you can't go 10 minutes up the vcore to 1.5375v and try again, if it works and temps are still sub 60c go up to 246-this is 3486Mhz or so*your cpu may not even be capable of a clock this high, but this is what you're shooting for, if you can get 10 minutes here don't stop orthos, keep going until it does stop or goes for 8 hours then post. if it isn't stable post all of your results so i can analyze them and i'll help you work out a stable configuration that will give you the best of all speeds.
TEST 1
ok bro 319x8x1.3 vcore @ DDR2 400Mhz. 5x HT, PCI-E buses locked at 100Mhz is highest I could get on ANY CPU<>NB voltage...and it aint too stable at 319
ok 325x8x @ 1.55vcore, HT @ 4x, CPU<>NB HT 1.4v, NB<>SB HT 1.35v, Mem voltage on auto......
That seems to be best I can get! This is still the PC(6400) RAM. I'm stopping here, till you get back. At 330mhz no boot..period Dont worry when I finish tests...I go right back to my stable 3Ghz
TEST 2
5-5-5-18-2T, 2.1v, 1.4vcore, DDR1240/620mhz.....3127mb/s....310Mhz...memtest #5 20min zero errors.
TEST 3
DDR freq=400Mhz.....DDR volts=2.1v.....HT multi=5x......Vcore=1.5375v
any thing under what is shown in screen failed Orthos in 2-4mins.
