9800GX2- do you need SLI Motherboard?

I am interested to know whether or not you need an SLI motherboard to run one of the new 8800GX2 cards? or is it only if you plan on running 2 of them in SLI

I have an asus P5K-E (16X / 8X) and dont really want to crossfire on it as theres nothing out there thats gonna do me crysis on my 24" screen at native res except this

They will run equal on both motherboards. The only difference is the support of quad sli

I thought they were having problems running them on Intel/AMD chipsets? or was that just one site?

iirc, there are at least a couple users on the forum who have had problems running the 9800GX2 on an intel based mobo.
