Hi all. Well, before I get the review underway im after some information.
(wont include any more pics as im saving them for the review)

Basically, soon as I got these RAM modules I whipped off the heat spreaders :D and checked out the IC's.

However, I was presented with RAM chips ive never seen before This is what was on the RAM IC chips:

Transcend
TQ243PCFC
T0809
XBV609-AA3G

Right, I believe these to be POWERCHIP IC's (doh)

BUT, these RAM modules are fully stable @ 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 @ 2V, and are even bootable at 1.9V.

What I need to know, is whats the highest voltage I can pop into these considering they will have very good active cooling applied. Does anyone have experience with these IC types?

they have a lifetime warrenty so if they fry well they fry, but id SERIOUSLY rather that not happen :laugh:

Any help would be appreciated (I want these chips taken to the limit)

None of that business is required.

Just go by the letter to the right of the barcode.

N = Micron
M = ProMoS
Y = Nanya
P = Powerchips
E = Elpida

Should be Powerchips.

What voltage are they warrantied through?

I know they are powerchips, and the packaging states 2V (reccomended Voltage)

however, thats just it. 2v perfectly 100% stable at 1066mhz, but I need to know what voltage is required for some serious overclocking, as these stiX are touted as extremely overclockable

As a rule, I wouldn't push over 2.3 or 2.4V. I hear of a lot of sticks dying at 2.4V.

Though, my Geils are warrantied 1.9-2.5V :p

More voltage isnt always better tho, I would recommend testing the max overclock at different voltages.

My 1200's starting throwing errors at 2.2v in bios. Board had to of been overvolting. Backed down to 2.15v in bios and there fine. I'm gonna try 2.1v maybe tonight. So I guess I agree with FR@NK. These newer ic's don't seem to need higher volts for higher clocks. I wouldn't go over 2.25v.

Ok, im going to bash my head against a rather hard rock until i lose conciousness

Right, these ram modules ROCK at stock speeds with a great 1.9-2v stable opperating voltage. lol

But, I cant for the love of steak pie get these to actually overclock :( took voltage all the way to 2.4, and just bsods, crashes.

Im soo sooo pissed off right now.

I needed 4gb ram since moving to vistaX64, so I sold my wonder-RAM; my Tracers that did all the way up to 1400mhz, or 1200@ cl4.

I cant even get these ram stix to 1200mhz at higher timings :wtf:

Im either doing something very wrong, or these "highly overclockable" sticks are actually "highly having-a-laugh"

So, I got these from Germany, im from the UK, i speak little german and think im gonna have to RMA/send them back, but have no experience with dealing with a german-based shop.

But then im left with my original dilemma; I need 4gbs high speed, low latency RAM that can either do 1200mhz and more (my old evo-ones did 1260) or can do over stock speeds with cl4. Id rather go for the ones that can get a nice bit above 1200Mhz at stock latencies.

This is driving me nuts :banghead:

does anyone here have or know of a kit that can do the above?

and what about speeds and timings acheived on a 4x1gb setup?

Mand :twitch:

the Transcend aXeram 1200 kit should be able to. You know, Im highly surprised that the set you ordered is powerchip ics. Very disappointed. I havent tinkered with my Wintec AmpX pros (micron d9s) but Ive seen reviews where these got over 1200. Not sure how though :roll:

thank-you. that is very good to hear. I will drop them an email. Its annoying because yes, these sticks have very low voltages, they are touted as overclocking ram modules, yet do not overclock well at all. doh!

My wintec AmpX Pros are. Lemme find the link to them real quick.

Wintex AmpX Pros I love how that one guy said these arent for overclocking. This is their performance memory. :roll:

ok, well im trying to return these RAM modules, as even on stock voltage after an hour im getting BSODs, everything else is 100% stable.

Ive decided to take a gamble, and after MUCH, MUCH web trauling and reading up reviews, Micron chip hunting I have decided to go with 4x1GB RAM modules simply because they, being select Micron D9 GMH, will overclock far bettwe than 2x2GB powerchip/Elipida.

Ive decided to go with 4x1gb OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-082-OC

(lol, yes, im aware of the irony SLI certified when I use ATI cards haha, but thats nothing that will empede its performance)

I would recommend Transcend aXeram 1200 kit 2x1GB (2 kits). I have two kits of it with Maximus Formula and Q6600 G0 and the maximum that I have succeed to reach was 1280MHz at 2.35V and 5-5-5-15 with all the modules installed (4x1GB). The memory chips are Micron D9GMH and originally this is the only 1200MHz memory at 5-5-5-15 with stock voltage of 2.2V!
I also will recommend Transcend aXeram 1200 or Transcend aXeram 800+ which is also based on Micron D9GMH chips. They will probably overclock well but not like 1200MHz kit. Soon I will buy one kit 2x1GB aXeram 800+ for my cousin and of course ;) will test the max. overclock and the timings. I forget to mention that the 2x1GB kit aXeram 800+ is 4-4-4-12 at 1.8V ;).

Now I am with 4GB and Vista 64-bit but the benefit is not so great compared to 2GB (probably the usage of some memory intensive applications will be beneficial from the increased memory capacity. Yes it is true that the games load/unload faster and in some cases are smoother (Crysis).

Please to tell me which timings you have used and what voltage for 1400MHz DDR2?

Mandalore, that just bits the big one! Thought for sure those would work right! If you can wait, there will be the Crucial Red Ballistix Trackers 2x2gb sticks that come out in a week to the egg. I really don't think they will use anything else but D 9's. I think thats your best bet there.
here is the link with fits asking about them, and what he found out..

99% of the 2x2gb kits are made from elipida or powerchips, because there is big demand, so they focus on getting sticks that work at speed rather than amazing overclocking ability.

The thing is, im starting to believe on modern motherboards, with adequite cooling on nb etc, there should be NO issue overclocking 4x1gb sticks. on older boards yes, but newer boards no.

If you have 4x1gb micron D9 sticks, they WILL overclock more than 2x2gb elipida or powerchip, even if there is a small penalty for using 4x1gb.

You may acheive a slightly lesser oc on some boards, but the 4x1gb WILL oc more than 2x2gb non D9 sticks

edit: as for the ballistix Red, the initial sticks may have been on better quality IC's, but everything after that is cheaper stuff, due to high demand, same goes with corsiar, even on their 2x1gb kits, replacing with cheaper powerchip or promo etc

ok, well im trying to return these RAM modules, as even on stock voltage after an hour im getting BSODs, everything else is 100% stable.

Have you checked out Buffalo Firestix? I've confirmed their DDR2 800 are D9's. and you can get 4x1GB for $110. I've currently got mine up to 1080mhz at 2.1v. Let me know if you'd like a link...:D

DO NOT go with the OCZ...I read that in most cases they are D9's if over 1000MHz at OCZ forums. this is not correct at all, petty sure I had Quimonda IC's with Hynix #'s on them!

Deal of the week on some cheap stix that will OC to 1100MHz and beyond in most cases.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148076

But you already know the power of tracers, as a previous owner!!!!

these sticks are confirmed micron D9GMH, after a good few hours of searching, narrowing down micron products, these were pretty good.

Ive checked out the firestix, good ram, the higher freq ones are also D9, but all Micron D9GMH unless hand picked should be about the same.

Actually, anyone know a decent place to find some Axeram 1200mhz ram kits? I may get 2 of those coz the Ocz Sli ready modules suck ass. And since you cant get the double sided Ballistix Tracer 8500's any more
(I rang crucial and they only make the single sided inferior ic based tracers now :( )

So, if the 1200's work as well as dolf says they do in 4x1 config i may opt for them. these sli modules are heading back 2moro morning, and im still left with unwanted 2x2gb Axram lols!
