thanks for the news! looks like a decent jump in stats compared to nvidia's 8000 to 9000 series.

I know this could be speculation and is subject to change but this seems very promising. I like the low power consumption myself.

this card is being released in a few months right? anyone know a rough release date?

Of course, there are barely any difference in performance between the GF8 & 9 series.

This has actually been around for a long time. Check the VR fourm site, it says so on there. I though this looked familiar. So this may not be accurate at all. Rumors are fun though.

by dud i mean not live up to expectations.. Although it is a good card it was supposed to beat the best Nvidia card and it doesnt really keep up in my opinion..

Cause yanno, nothing has really beaten that 8800 GTX that came out previous. Not by anything more than marginal, until you start talking about SLI.

Graphics have kinda been at a standstill. There's been nothing significantly faster, just price-points keep dropping, and the same stuff gets released as the "new" lower-end. Not sure if I want to believe there's a higher end card on the way...

Although I kind agree, I think we're going to see multi-GPU setups taken to a whole new level (whenever ATi releases the R700!!! :banghead:

).

Unless they go and design a new GPU architecture from the ground up, it will continue to be improvements on what is currently on the market.

I think ATI will be the first to release a new arch GPU, as they now have the backing and R&D of AMD. Although they don't have uncle moneybags like nVidia does, they have the talent and resources already in place.

Yes, that's true, but considering how horribly unoptimised Crysis is, I think that with a new engine and a lot of tweaking you could get as good a looking graphics, but needing less powerful GPUs.
