It's a real shame that it doesn't support eSata! Opportunity Missed Rosewill!

I know that E-sata is 3.0 gb/s is nice, but the hard drives wont be able to take advantage of it in most cases, because USB 2.0 is 480 MB/s, find me a hard drive that can take advantage of that.

usb is 480 Mb = MegaBIT = 60 MBytes/s in theory.. realistic is between 30 and 40 MB

@3870x2 - Remember, Gb/s and Mb/s refer to bits, not bytes. In reality, USB 2.0 typically gets between 30-34 megabytes per second reads. Most hard drives today will do 50-85 megabytes per second reads. If you look at the performance page from the Thermaltake BlacX review, the 5400 RPM Seagate Momentus HDD Fell below 30 megabytes per second about 2/3 of the way through the drive. Most other drives will be limited by the USB through-put.

This looks very nice, are they limited to 500GB for each drive? or can you put what you want in? I hope they do a version of this one with eSATA, that's what'll make me buy one. I'll be building a server soon, and it'd be nice to have something external on eSATA that I can take out when I go over to friend's places and such.

One of the comments on Newegg said they called Rosewill and confirmed that individual drives of up to 1 TB in size can be used. Any size up to 1TB will work, and both drives do not need to be the same size, make or model.

Hilarious: I work as a computer technician for the US Special Forces, and I'm Typing this from IRAQ. I co-maintain a network with 400+/- computers and 20 switches. Thank you for the obvious.
I don't know what USB you've been using but the 2.0 on my dell workstation has a constant read of 60-70 MB/s.

Agreed. I have never seen anything higher than 34 MB/s myself, so I would also be interested in what hardware you're using to get that result.

I was looking at our FIREWIRE drives, which even then dont reach 60-70 MB/s unless they are directly attached to our server. I was wrong about that, but even my hard drive wont reach that high (second image), it would be higher, albeit not by much, if it were a reg 3.5 inch.
