i just bought the MSI K9A2 CF, and got only one gc: HD3870 IceQ3
The problem is that the first PCIE slot to near with the SATA port, if i place the GC at the first, i cannot get 2 out of 4 SATA port. I need all 4 SATA port to be used. So, i put the GC in the second slot, boot up and it run properly. When check at CCC, "current bus setting: PCI Express 2.0 x8". How can i change it to run at x16 speed??

Wouldn't worry about it if I were you. It's not gonna use the full 8x anyways. Reviews were done a while ago showing little difference between 16x/8x CF, and something like a 10% hit for 16x/4x.

Check for bios upgrades on MSI's site. Sometimes boards are released with a barely functional bios.

I agree, 8x pci-e is how many MB/s??? Might get a 1fps or so increase if you got it working.
Did you try anything like atitool? Might have bus options, havent used it in awhile.

i just want to know either the equation below is true or not

PCIE 1.0 x16 = PCIE 2.0 x8

I would think that PCIE 2.0 x8 is abit faster due to the bus running at twice as fast. Max bandwidth would be the same but a bus running twice as fast should have a lower latency across the bus.
