This thread is an AGP vs. PCIe knockout.

The challengers:

1./ In the AGP corner, an AGP system running a 3850AGP vs.
2./ In the PCIe corner, a system running a 3850PCIe.

Please post your CPU details, Furmark 1.3.0, 3Dmark03, 3Dmark06, Aquamark3, and SuperPi 1.5 results. Not all results are necessary, ie. if you only have a 3Dmark06, thats OK.

Critical condition.... any CPU, s478 or s775 or s771, BUT it must be running a 3850 and the CPU at a maximum FSB of 300. I know the PCIe guys can overclock more than this, but the AGP system is i865 and FSB300 is the max. Remember this is a clock-for-clock comparison, not an OVERclock challenge.

****

OK, first result from the AGP corner:

Q6600 @ FSB300 = 2.7Ghz, HD 3850 AGP

Furmark 1.3.0 = 3050
3Dmark03 = 35,516
3Dmark06 = 11,354
Aquamark3= 137,308
SuperPi = 19.015 secs

@morgoth. Are you sure about 400Mhz FSB on 865? I dont think thats right. The system clock of the 865 is designed for 200Mhz... that allows 400Mhz (on 100FSB), 533 (on 166FSB) and 800Mhz (on 200FSB) "quad pumped" CPU. Later 865 were able to overclock to 250+, and the Conroe865PE board will go to 300. Using "Tweak 865" its possible to go to about 310 or 320 before the system falls over. I think 400 is WAY OUT OF LIMITS.

@ghost, CPU @2.70, GPU @ 750/1000
@KainXS, yes, a "standard" oc on the 3850 @750/1000. Please inform if diff. overclock.

@anyone with a Q6600... please share a quad bench comparison. Thanks.

Here are my scores. I had already run 3dmark06 with my 3850 AGP overclocked to 837/1026 before I saw about the "standard" oc of 750/1000.

Sorry to hear that! Why cant you get over 266? Is the system unstable? If so, try taking the multipler down and getting FSB to 300. You need 300 or the DDR is really underclocked.

TBH I'm surprised your QX6700 is underperforming compared to the Q6600 performance I posted earlier. I hope you can fix it.

Can you do a non-gpu test, like superpi?

Yes the system is unstable, I'm not able to find the right settings to raise up FSB and get my PC stable would you like to help me? :respect:

Infact they run at 177,4MHz :cry:

Me too, it's FSB that slow my points I suppose

Can you do a non-gpu test, like superpi?

Sure, I'll prepare as soon as possible

Yeah, I have had an Asrock 4coredual for the last couple of weeks but will be sending it back this Monday to Newegg since it is just too buggy for me to keep messing with. I have been able to get some good benches, but it is not very stable for my gaming machine. I will be switching back to my p4 until I can get a new mobo for my e6700, looking at an Abit p35 pro for some overclocking!

Ok yesterday I reached 12054 points at 3Dmarks06

FSB = 294Mhz
Multiplier = 11
RAM = 2 - 3 - 3 - 6

In Bios I've activated Spread Spectrum or 3Dmarks06 crash
Enhalt ...........
Virtualization ..............

All the rest in the same screen disabled

I also overclock my 3850 to 802/1002

I think I can get a little more, any suggestion?

Thanks for your link. Was that FOUR 3850! Or 2x 3850x2? Quite a setup. PS. Do you have results for a SINGLE 3850? We are interested in comparing AGP vs. PCIe, so a single PCIe statistic would be great! Thanks
