thats a whole lot of cpu bottlenecking, i think you are right to be suspicious of that, hmm, i wonder if... i think your cpu should be pretty compareable with mine, and that videocard isnt too far off from mine, atleast thats what http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units#GeForce_9_series says

please fill in the system specs and allow people to see your system specs

10149 3DMarks

SM 2.0 Score 4339
SM 3.0 Score 5123
CPU Score 2250

Is your system overclocked at all? Also, you may want to remove 1 stick of ram just for testing purposes for now.

i think i figured it out by looking at that website i pasted you a link to, and then looking at the 3dmark06 results, its because of the difference in shader power,

Your CPU score is normal (don't let people bully you into upgrading, your 6000+ X2 is absolutely fine for job :) however your SM 2.0 and HDR/SM3.0 scores are extremely low.

I've got a 9600 GT paired with a 3800+ X2 at stock and my score is as follows:

SM 2.0: 3281
HDR/SM3.0:3612
CPU: 1514
Overall:7232

The fact my SM2.0 and HDR/SM3 score is higher than yours despite having a weaker processor signifies that your graphics card is under performing. Download an application called GPU-z and tell us if your card is running at 16x or 8x PCI-E

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

PS. What is your overall 3d Mark 06 score and what manufacture is your 9600 GT?

Edit 1:

His cpu score is too low. My 5000+ get's around ~2400

My CPU at 2.9 GHz got 2219

back on topic :ohwell:

Exactly what I thought as well. I match that @ 2.4Ghz 800mhz ram 5-5-5-15 timings.

I agree his CPU score might be a tad low, but it's not the concern, his SM2.0 and SM3.0 are the root problems as I've provided a screen of my scores somewhat higher than his at stock with a slower processor. So it's the graphics card/driver issues?

GPU temp is kinda good 40 on idle and max 60 , sometimes 62 after playing some Age of conan

about the memory that what it should , on the memory it says PC2 - 5400 667 , but on CPU-Z its PC2 - 5300 ( 333MHZ) "single"

i just removed 1 memory stick and nothing much changed got few more extra scores +50

Benchmark Scores Not Wasting Time!
Your CPU is seriously bottlenecked. You need to get at least 3 GHz for getting a normal score.

OMG looks like i'm going to have to repeat all my good comments again.

SM2.0 2294
HDR/SM3.0 2268
CPU score 2261

Your CPU score is normal (don't let people bully you into upgrading, your 6000+ X2 is absolutely fine for job :) however your SM 2.0 and HDR/SM3.0 scores are extremely low.

I've got a 9600 GT paired with a SLOWER 3800+ X2 at stock and my score is as follows:

SM 2.0: 3281
HDR/SM3.0:3612
CPU: 1514
Overall:7232

The fact my SM2.0 and HDR/SM3 score is higher than yours despite having a weaker processor signifies that your graphics card is under performing.

OK enough with the silly "Your CPU is bottleneck" stuff everyone, give his man some real advice as we have already established his SM2.0/3.0 is very very low considering his score is lower than mine in SM2.0/3.0 despite my slower processor.

Edit:
but mine is 3GHZ ..... i think
Do not worry you just had some bad advice, ignore spearman as he is in his ANTI AMD mode :D

Edit 2:

My score jumped from 6223 to 7232 when I moved from an ASrock ALiveXFire-eSATA2 R3.0 to a ALiveNF7G-HD720p R5.0 motherboard, I believe a motherboard can be a slight constraint but a score of 5k isn't healthy for your rig. Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers, your board uses the AMD SB600 chipset I believe which you have to obtain from ATI.com or equivalent website. If your score doesn't improve with latest chipset driver I'd recommend a fresh format of your hard disk drive and re-installing windows (make sure your files are backed up first)

Looking at your CPU-z specification everything appears normal and your graphics card should perform well at 16x @16x, the core, shader and memory bus appear normal too. Also PC-4500 and PC5300 are the same thing and run 667Mhz bus default. Your ram is operating at "single" channel because you have an odd amount of ram (3GB) in your system, you need two or four chips for "dual". But whether you run dual or single it will not have any baring towards your poor score of 5k in 3D Mark 06 :)

yes that chip is a 3ghz. You should be hitting around ~2400. But that's not a big problems. Your card is the problem. If you can oc your card to 750/950/1700. 3dmark06 is hungry for core speeds. I could do 800/1000 and 800/1100 and only get about a ~100 increase. I would think that your card should have higher core speeds, but i'm not sure.

He doesn't need to over clock his card to break 5k, there is something other than hardware wrong, see post #13
- My 9600 GT is clocked the same as baison too (stock)
- I have a slower CPU (3800+ X2) (stock when tested)
- I score higher than baison

It has to be a software/driver conflict. I'm sure of it!

Edit 1:

ktr, sometimes I feel people look at the thread title, look at the baison's spec and see "AMD" then go into AMD sucks, you need a better CPU, you need to overclock to an Intel equivalent speed without looking at the issue in hand. Baison for the first time I can honestly say if you want unbiased help go elsewhere because TechPowerUp has become soo bias and people seem unwilling to give you real help unless you have an Intel CPU.

i will not bother with OC anymore till i find what really wrong

Edit 2:

Indeed, stick to your guns!!::)

Like I said earlier my score improved slightly when I changed from an ATI to an Nvidia chip set motherboard, it also solved some erratic graphics crashing and locking up too.

Edit 3:

Coolmax 600W

600W is more than meaty enough.

You have to understand that the 3Dmarks score is a sum of 3 other scores...sm2.0, sm3.0, and CPU. The sm2.0 and 3.0 should be the same among the model. The CPU score is irrelevant, for we always know that its gonna be a bottleneck. I can hit 7.8-8k (STOCK) on my rig, and his CPU is much faster than mines.

that what drives me crazy , compareing my score with other ppl with same hardware shows alot ALOT dif , no way OC will add 5k or 6k , must be somthing wrong , i just OC my CPU to 3.2 and got only extra 30 on GPU score so i will not bother with OC anymore till i find what really wrong

if you notice i corrected myself, his and my cpu are really close benchmark wise, yeah its his videocard performance i bet its clocked like really low or overheating or something :?

provided that anisotropic and anti aliasing are off,... thats all i can think of really

and to the guy that says he needs to upgrade his cpu look at my 3dmark06 score :?

altho granted my 3dmark06 score is pretty heroic for my cpu.

Only thing I can think of is to uninstall the video drivers, use a driver cleaner/sweeper to remove any left over settings, go to bios and put it back in to default settings, and re-install the drivers using Nvidia latest (or beta) drivers.

i thought of something, try to conferm your gpu clock with riva tuner, sometimes gpuz cant detect actual clock, just what the default clocks are... i had an issue with gpuz like that myself, i was thinking maybe for some reason your gpu is getting underclocked for some reason.

either way rivatuner has a little chart thingy so u can load it and get the chart ready then go into a game and come back after a little bit then check for gpu and video memory clocks, and power and etc

oops yeah that could be a driver issue like he said too.
