Last night I got my system oc'ed finally... Still got more head room to go at but thats not the reason I am here. I went and posted my results in the 3dmark06 thread and my bud JR asked me to do bench runs on both Vantage and 3dmark06 with my 9800gx2 just using ONE of the chips.
So, I got my card running with the SLI disabled and ran the two benches. It does show that the benches are just that of a 8800gts.

Here are my benches with the card Disabled then Enabled

3dmark06: Sli Disabled

3dmark06: Sli Enabled

Vantage: Sli Disabled

Vantage: Sli Enabled

Fur: Sli Enabled

Fur: Sli Disabled

As you can see there is A big difference in the results. I know with it being a SLI card that there would be a difference. Also, I do note that the card is two 8800gts 512's stuck together.

Well guys, this is without clocking the card at all. I'll do that come this weekend when I have a day of nothing to do but oc the card. I just thought You guys would want to see true differences in the card having both SLI enabled and Disabled.

:::please no ATI is better then Nvidia stuff.. I'm no fanboi of ether brand, so I really won't take up for it. ::: :toast:

From a ~24.5% increase in 3D06 to a ~74.2% increase in Vantage: WOW!

We all knew that Vantage was GPU oriented but this proves it BIG TIME!!

Yeah, it shows the views of both Benches quite well. I was amazed at how big of a difference my Vantage score was.. Now, I just need to get the card around the same value as the processor. Then see how my score on it goes!

It goes to prove that SLI can make a huge impact. Obviously, SLI won't give 100% more but it should give @ least 50% more but, if it doesn't then that's poor game and / or driver coding.

also if these tests are run at 1920x1200 or above, maybe even including 4xAA, you will see even better scaling :D.

in my SLi experiences, if you bog down the GPU's with more res/AA/detail the scaling goes more and more towards 90-95%

That is true there. If the card isn't holding up with everyone elses, it is all ways save to say that its some type of issue like the two you said.

Yeah, you'll probably see a big difference in the tests if you do it with that.. But with me, I'd rather bench on res that most people would be doing... Game play I'll run it will all the candy showing!

I really have to see about the Res/AA/Detail parts in scaling. I was never a big fan of Benches with my ATI card, But with Nvidia, I see more of a need to try what I can...

Those are pretty good scores on 3dmark06 man! :toast:

I can go father on the core. The temps are running 67c straight on Prime95 after 30 mins, so I have head room, but I like to have my clock at 3.5ghz for 24/7. I'll be trying this week or this weekend to get my Oc clocks done...
As for the card, I'll do it this Sunday since my parents are not coming up for the weekend.

That is almost 100% gain to two cores when you look at the graphics scores for vantage. Somewhere around 90% it seems (just talking graphics scores here). Very impressive. :toast:

Yeah thanks, I just wanted to show that there is a big difference in the scoring when you allow the card to have sli running or not... Its been forever since I have done Fur bench... Might try that later on..

No I'm referring to the gpu score in non-sli to gpu score in sli, or you could say a single card v.s. the double. 97% increase in gpu score.

I was referring to the overall score in Vantage while you were referring to the GPU score only in Vantage: i get it now!

A question, though: why did the CPU score, in Vantage, increased from 12245 to 12381 when the only change was the enabling of the SLI?

That's a good question, some little nuance I guess. Cpu score usually varies a little from test to test, even when nothing is changed. That's a decent change though so.........

hec yeah very good point, vantage seems very gpu-bound, 95+% is awesome to see! haven't seen that since the days of my 8600GT SLi :p

Bro, I have just cleaned my Temp file about a half an hour ago, and rebooted, and ran vantage again because of Sneeky telling me of the 939's trick with Temp files and I got a 12351 score on my CPU. Don't know the problem with that one..

It might be that my processor isn't at 3.5 perfectly, but at 3.509~3.51???

u got P6000 with a 9800GX2 hmmm . HD 4850 got p6500 as reported by vr-zone . SO this means that 4850 may be faster than 9800GX2 . u've got my hopes up.

In this latest run of yours, your scores dropped ~0.05% in GPU score, ~0.0025% in CPU score and ~0.005 in overall score: i'm assuming this is the "standard" difference between runs.

~0.011% in the CPU score difference (12245 to 12381) seems to be more then the "standard", which is why i took notice of it!

EDIT

Obviously, you changed nothing except enabling SLI and the screenies prove as much.

Ahh, I see what your talking about... HTC, your all about the numbers! lol... I really haven't done anything different then deleting about 1gb of Temp files.. Sad thing it was just two weeks worth! lmao...
And that was after the two tests, and before the last ss I gave you

What do you mean man? Thats with my card running at 8800gts clocks... SLI disable... Please tell me more?

Nah the a 8800gts score 6k, or half a gx2. The 4850 will in no way beat a gx2 unless ati has been working really really hard. :D
