A little bored today so decided to see what the thermal paste under the heatpipe heatsink looked like. Following are some pictures:

Unlucky project for the day

Remove the pins that hold the heatsink assembly(6 on my board0

Naky board!!

Underside of heatsink assembly. The TIM seemed more like a rubbery material and was a pain in the but to get off on the middle. Let some alcohol sit for awhile and off it came

Thermal paste(AS5) on the mosfets. This took most of the time due to patience

Thermal paste(AS5) on north and south bridge.

Reassembled

I'm going to let it settle in since AS5 takes forever to cure and I'll let you know if and how much the temps have improved. Also need to find a good piece of software to monitor the temps.

That is with my Sempron running @ 2.7Ghz, 1.6v, clock @ 300FSB, South bridge set to 1.28v.

I wish I could just run out and buy some MX-2 but the only stuff the shops around here have all have silver in them so since AS5 is the thickest stuff I could find I figured I shouldn't have any issues with it, and since back in the X1800-1950 days I put some AS5 on the pwm's without issues I figured this should be alot easier.

I'm not very bright tonight. I am very happy with this board and will be especially happy once I have a PSU that doesn't give me problems..different story. The bios options are galore, not DFI galore, but many that can really seperate the oc boys from the girls. Just looking at the board you can see quality as I think the layout is very nice, but the one thing I would complain about is the PCI slot placement and that there is no PCI-E x1 or x4 which there would have been room above the 1st PCI-E x16 slot if the damn northbridge wasn't there. Accessories is plenty just with the Deluxe board and then a step up with the Deluxe Wifi Ed board(Comes with the memory cooler and of course wi/fi adapter). I would recommend this board easily to anybody that is looking for a Crossfire/AMD setup.
