This is the most I could find.

Expansion capabilities include two PCI-E x1 slots, two PCI slots, and three PCI-E x16 2.0 slots that support CrossFireX at x8 speeds. The lower PCI-E x16 slot runs at a max of x4. Even though the x16 slots run at x8 in CrossFireX, the PCI-E 2.0 bandwidth is higher, negating any effect the x8 speeds have. Quad CrossFireX is supported! In between the bottom PCI slot and the second PCI-E slot lays the Asus Express Gate SSD. This little assembly is basically a flash drive with a small Linux distribution that allows for quick web access without going into the OS.

It is saying it can do tri crossfire at x8 all three slots but because it is PICE2.0 it negates any negative effect the x8 will have due to higher bandwith of PCI2.0. Humm Hows this possible because if thats true two cards in two16x slots 2.0 in a regular maximus still would be faster unless you added a third card correct? Plus this board appears to have no LCD poster?

I don't get it at all myself.. I mean the Maximus Formula board looks almost better in it all... The only reason to pick this up is the sound card... But, that is me... But, P45 boards are God sends..

or 3 x 4850 in it would be a monster and still cheaper than a 280. If I were starting over and did not own a maximus / rampage I would buy this but it is not a upgrade. Atleast not much of one and the sound card I have in this board is very good aswell. Even with ddr3 it would not be a upgrade because the chips out right now make very little use of it anyways. DDR2 1200 is about it for current chips. Still it's a great Idea and unlike the 790I boards it actually work and your hardrive doesn't get corrupted.

Yeah, for anyone that wants a Max board, I would suggest this board to anyone... I love my max board also. I just haven't had the balls to do the rampage mod.. lol.. I never use onboard sound... I've tried the card, but I really love my Auzen... Probably since I was able to mod it

do the rampage mod. It is easy and makes a giant difference overclocking my board went from a max FSB of 490 to 550. The Maximus and Rampage are exactly the same, it's all bios. I can boot as high as 570fsb.

Will that work? I mean an X48 BIOS in an X45 board...

*edit*

Sorry, I realized you were suggesting that to Cold Storm. My bad...

The Maximus Formula 2 is based on the P45 chipset, so it has 2 PCI-E 2.0 16x slots, but they only run at 8x for CFX.

btw TRT the first black pci-e x1 slot is for the included sound card... which kicks ass. You have on PCI slot under that, then a pci-e x16 slot under that, then two white pci-e x1 slots, another pci-e x16 slot and finally another regualr pci slot. However, if you run crossfire the 16 lanes will be split over those two slots. However considering its pci-e 2.0 it won't make a difference. The only reason I would get this over rampage formula (X48) which is in the same range is because of the new audio card and better heatpipe design. However, I still believe X38 and X48 are better overclockers. But you wouldn't be making a mistake by choosing either of the two. Just my two cents.

Just seems rather pricey for a board that can't do 2 x 16 pci-e. Looks freaking killer though!:rockout:

Intel boards are freaking pricey for basically nothing extra. PCI-E 2.0? DDR3 support? Higher FSB (despite the FSB wall in the 45nm quads)? And a £150-200 premium?

Honestly, it makes me wish I'd stuck with AMD.

I kinda wish I had a AMD geforce board with a 9850BE and two 9800gtx black editions or for that matter one 4870. I wonder I smell a trade.I just might sell my current rig and give old AMD a try. I'm getting bored with intel.

Same, I want a DFI 790FX, 8750 or 4850e to hold me over for the 45nm quads, and a 4870.

Intel is great, but it's too much money to change my motherboard just for PCI-E 2.0 ffs.
