Did this (though ATI Tool still said 599) and no artifacts. Not sure I was really at 690 or not ??

Edit: also I was at a lower temp in this exercise than at 661 with "find max" (80 vs 83)

Oops - ATI X1800-XT

I hope the ATItool software was wrong!!

I have no beef at all but I ran a "find max core" test and the AMPs were bouncing between 27.5 and 30amps!

there was tearing from the time I hit the test button..it got to 673 and just froze

Still have the problem when setting core frequency in ATI tool and running a 3d app results in ATITool displaying a very low core frequency (475MHz in my case) when I exit the 3d app, was using 3d mark 2003, running a few secs of GT1. FPS were lower than stock too so it looks like it does actually drop the core frequency. Im running with CCC, ATISmart, and ATI Hotkey Poller disabled.

Also 700MHz core on stock volts gives me a blackscreen but 700MHz stock volts is rock solid with OC tool. Any ideas anyone? Using a Powercolor X1800XT 512MB

Just tried artifact scanning and find max core and max mem, works fine on my card using older more compatible mode, normal mode gives same picture as screenie in spajdr's post.

On my GF 6800 artifact scanning while i'm overclocking core (manual, or using find max) still doesn't work (tried both new and old method). When I use find max, core overclocks to about 380MHz and then system freezes (probably card automaticaly changes to 2d mode, but because "find max" also overclocks 2d so card crashes). When I manual overclock my core and scan for artifacts strange things happen. It detects no artifacts, but when i close and open again 3d window, there is one big artifact . Once i had a text saying "delta ... . No artifacts for..." (never seen these things both :P). Haven't tried overclocking mem yet.

There is also "Fan speed". It says 0%.

PS. sorry about my english.

For me...is exactly like spajdr...and my frequency go down and artifact is detect at stock clock speed. But with manual overclock,my card can take easily 615/650 without any artifact with 1.2v on gpu and 2.0v on ram.

Auto Memory clocking doesn't seem to work though. Just an update.

For Powercolor X1800XT 512MB OCing memory even slightly (<10MHz) results in black screen as soon as a 3d app initialised, also black screen when core set to anything over 650MHZ. Ok now using + and - buttons to set clocks, and set them to apply instantly, core now lets me run 3d mark at anything ive tried so far (up to 680MHz) but the problem of reporting low clocks upon exit remains.
