Serious Problem , Help

177.70 and 177.66 Drivers installed for 7600GT but cannot run any DirectX game or Aero for Vista . I am able to run OpenGL game such as Prey . Installed the DirectX june 2008 redist also .

I cleared the previous drivers with driver sweeper and driver cleaner pro , crap cleaner , manually through registry in safe mode . Then installed new drivers . No luck .

Maybe try downloading this? Usually does it automatically w/ the game, but if some of that has been corrupted..........

I'm thinkin you may have some dx corruption then. If it's not too much trouble perhaps try a fresh win install.

Yeah, the only other thing I could think of is if you have another dx10 card readily accessible, pop that in and update to dx10, which I believe overwrites the previous version. Then put the other back in and see if that works. That's somewhat complicated as well, but I don't know of any other way to mess w/ or uninstall dx.

Hmmm, that's a good question. Looks like it actually ships w/ vista so, I don't know.

UPDATE : Windows update installed 163. some driver and everything is back to normal , Vista wins again for fixing problems .
