My DVD drive is undetected

So, since clear sky is gay and needs the disc to play i put the disc in and i click on the shortcut and it still says there is no disc, going into "My Computer" it shows my 2 harddrives, a nonexistent floppy drive and my ipod. so then i went into device manager and found this, now, i clicked on update driver and it didnt do shit, i went to Lite-on's site and they didnt have shit for drivers, and even if the drive came with a driver disc i wouldnt even be able to play it, so can someone help me.

Uninstall the device then reboot and let Windows re-install it, it should then work.(Lite-On drives are crap by the way, this is a common problem, and a sign the drive is probably on its way out.)

Dvds/cds don`t have drivers (basically). Did you install it recently and is it sata ?

Thanks it worked, itunes said some shit about it needing to be reinstalled, but w/e

Ive had a Lite-on drive since 2002, have since given it to my grandfather's pc and as far as I know it still works.

Another option that has worked for me many times is to go into Device manager and uninstall the secondary IDE Controller, reboot, windows will reinstall the drivers for the controller and connected devices, and reboot again. I do this alot when friends and customers are having problems with skipping movies and audio(This usually happens cause the device is running in PIO mode and not DMA) or just no drive being detected.
