hey guys.probably the 1000th upgrade question within the forums
but here goes
i feel the need for a component upgrade.but with xmas due, funds are
limited.first off here are my specs-

amd 64 x2 dual core 4200+ 2.2ghz
radeon x1950 pro 512mb pci-e
trust 570w dual fan pw-5500
3gig of ram
22" acer moniter p221w
Hitachi HDT725032VLA 320gb hd

so.my system can pretty much play all new games on high settings
except crysis.and i love that damn game to bits.i gotta thing for eye candy
games.anywho.i pretty much built the system myself.thought about overclocking
scares me abit.and i dont think my gpu can be overclocked

i gotta about 100 english pounds to spend on a component to help me
run crysis a better.then another 100 after xmas.

i have joined this site.and you all seem a real helpful bunch
hopefully you can help me too.cheers:)

I'd say your system is pretty solid. Just get a newer video card and you're set.

Your 3GB ram; How is that split up? 2x1GB + 2x512 and what speed?

So it's playing your games as you like or you looking for a little bit more of a push? Maybe Kyle's 8800GT might be a good upgrade for you.

i would say get kyle's vid card now, and save some money, then upgrade PSU and CPU after xmas. I would suggest a corsair tx550 or hx520 for the PSU, a 5000+BE for the CPU. But more likely the prices will ahve changed before then and you'll have to start a new thread about that.

Overclocking is very easy, you just have to keep an eye on the temperatures and make sure that it's stable. Check the guide in my signature for easy AMD overclocking. I say that your video card and power supply is the weakest link. That 8800GT would be NICE, I loved mine when I had it.

that PSU is poor ,a friend of mine has the exact same model and it struggles running a moderate system

E2180 @2.5
250gb HD
DVDR
7600gt
x2 80mm case fans

almost all the voltages are under wat they are supposed to be :(
id look into replacing it asap tbh.
i deff wouldnt "trust" that trust to run a high end system.

yeah, you must change that psu first, use antec earth watt series it's cheap now or you would consider hd 4670 it's power requirement realy low and if your psu can hadle your x1950 pro then it can handle this card to. and you can use your x-mas money to buy new psu :)

After you get a new GFX. Thats what guys here suggest according to your screen you need something at least 8800gt.

About the PSU. I wouldnt replace it right away - wattage should be enough.
After you put new GFX in and the PC hangs up or reboots itself that means you need to get a better one because this ones 570W are lies.
According to its price it isnt cheapest possible so Its very likely it will be working ok.

Your cpu overclocks well, I have seen plenty of people do some great things with it. And don't be scared! Just follow JC's guide and you will be fine.

Since it seems you already have your graphics card picked out, I would buy a corsair HX620 psu. They are great. I have one and it handles my system no problem. My dad has the same and he has 4 GB of ram, a 3870, and a Phenom 9250. It handles plenty.

Don't spend your money on a new cpu, you don't need one. :rockout:

There is really nothing to be scared of. Just make sure that your temperatures stay below 60*C. If you screw something up, you just reset the CMOS and the stock settings are automatically applied.

It's not. But your new video card(s) might make it too small. First decide on the card(s) then calculate the power requirements. Most 'enthusiasts' buy way too much PSU, as if that will somehow improve performance. This is a computer, guys, not an arc-welder.
