So as the topic suggests, I will need another system when I go back to Canada soon (as me and the other half cant share 1!). The system will be used for gaming only as we are both avid gamers :)

I will be in Montreal and have a budget of around $1100, the local stores are pretty expensive so I'm looking to cut some costs so I could do with some tips as to where to get some things from to save money.

I have picked out some parts below and I'm wondering what you guys think of it before I go ahead and order them, feel free to add your own opinions! :toast:

Xeon DC E3110 (E8400 equivalent at $40 less) - $209
Asus P5Q Pro P45 - $179
2GB OCZ Platinum XTC 1066mhz - $55
XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog XXX - Already own!
250GB HDD (Any brand) - $65
Acer X223Wbd 22" - $195
Winblows XP - $119

All prices are from Microbytes (apart from the monitor)
I need some help on a quality case and PSU, things like DVD drives don't matter as I have plenty laying around. (A realistic $200 limit on PSU/Case, please)

I'm pretty firm about the mainboard being Asus and the Monitor coming from Acer, as my Canadian rig now (system specs) has never let me down and in my view Asus boards are solid things.

So, your advice and suggestion's if you please, as all will be taken into account! :rockout:

Thanks for reading. :toast:

Edit: Canada has some ridiculous prices..almost as bad as England (I'm English!)

Edit 2: I will want to OC the Xeon/E8400 as high as possible, how do these P45s fare at the side of P35s?? (as I already own a P35 P5K-E that hits a FSB wall @ 501x7 multi)

The E3110, Asus P5Q Pro and the OCZ @ 1066mhz will replace the CPU, board and ram in my system to the left, she will get the E6750, P5K-e and the OCZ @ 800mhz while I get the newer stuff!! :) :rockout:

The 8800GT will play all she needs it to (W:ET, CoD4, Bioshock etc.) without worries so I see no reason to update, even though I would love a 260/280GTX but my budget (or partner!) won't allow for it yet so my 9800GTX+ will have to do for me until a later date.

I like the case you found, I will see if she likes the look of it but I'm sure she will, as her words are 'I want something that looks nice', but in my view cable management takes priority!
The PSU is also nice, I will have to look into its stats as per usual, Microbytes offers very little info about products. :rolleyes:

My first thought was the Antec 300, anyone got anything good/bad to say about that case?
Also, does anyone know where to get things cheaper from in Canada? Microbytes and other local stores are very pricey on most things and every little helps, as I'm sure you can understand :)

Thanks. :toast:

@Canada prices
NCIX is the only thing I can think of.

@Antec 300
Don't personally own one but they are very VERY nice cases for the dough.

@8800GT
Dependant on the resolutions you "will be/wanting to" playing at. I say stick with it

She will be running her games at 1280x1024 for the most part (desktop res) even though the monitors native resolution will be 1680x1050 (22") so the 8800GT will do for her fine :)

Thanks for reminding me about NCIX, I forgot all about it!!

Any more sites anyone can recommend for me please?

After asking Triptex where to find some cheaper parts from I've finally ordered everything.

Specs of my updated rig: :rockout:
E8400
DFI LanParty Dark P45
2GB OCZ 1066mhz
2x Seagate 500GB 32mb cache HDD (RAID0)
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w Modular PSU
eVGA 9800GTX+
Antec 900
Acer 22" LCD

Rig for my girlfriend (pretty much my rig in specs): :)
E6750 @ 3.66ghz
Asus P5K-e WiFi App P35
2x1GB OCZ 800mhz @ 916 (FSB;DRAM 1:1)
2x Maxtor 320GB 16mb cache HDD (RAID0)
OCZ GameXStreme 600w PSU
XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog XXX
Antec 900
Acer 22" LCD

Now, I have a Scythe Ninja rev.2 and at 3.66ghz with the E6750 it loads @ around 50 - 51'C, I was wondering if I replace it with the HDT-S1283 I've ordered (I had to order it as the OEM Intel cooler sucks!) will I see better cooling?
I know the Xigmatek is good but I haven't seen any reviews with it put against a Scythe Ninja 2...any help there would be good guys as I'll put the worse of the two on my GFs PC lol. :)

p.s What do you think of mine and my gfs rigs?

Edit: Will the Scythe even fit on the DFI board due to the NB cooler size??
