Hey all

Soon I need some new memory. I have two kits in mind, but I can't really deciede which one to buy. I read some reviews on both, and still I'm kinda torn...

Its either the
OCZ Technology 4096MB Kit (2x2048MB) PC2-8500 Reaper-Series (approx. 80$
or
Corsair Dominator TWIN2X DDR2-1066 2x2GB CL5 (approx. 140$)

Both look kinda identical on the datasheet, yet there is a noticeable price difference.
The memory will sit in an Asus P5Q-E, accompanied with either a C2D7300 or 8400 (haven't decieded that, too). There will be overclocking, so which kit now gives the best performance?

Thanks in advance for your help:rockout:

I like corsair but I don't think I would pay that much extra for it lol definitely go OCZ. Not like ram brands are better in gaming than others.

So the Dominators are overrated, eh? Okay, I'll go with the Reaps then. Thanks you guys.

Becareful when buying OCZ memory though, make sure you buy there "higher" end stuff, i had alot of problems with there Gold Edition series, sometimes they work fine and overclock, other sticks i had are just plain lousy.

Corsair is very good memory but sadly, like alienware they charge you for the name.. IMHO there are many different brands, besides the Two you chose. Patriot has been a favorite of mine recently as well as Gskill. I would definitely give those two brands a go.

Kay, lets see how these Reapers perform then. And if they suck, the shop I buy from is very friendly when it comes to RMAs.

Sadly neither Patriot nor Gskill are available here... I searched for them, there is no shop carrying them:(

I sometimes buy in USA and UK, its cheaper to buy there even if shipping kills me. usually if the declared value of the package is low (in italy under 15 euros) customs dont block it, and they dont tax it. but i dont know for switzerland, you should find it by yourself :ohwell:.
