Any EverQuest 2 players?

I used to play EverQuest when I was younger and my friend suggested we try EQ2.. Are there any US EQ2 players? Also, does it support Crossfire?

As you might have seen me making mention of in that LOTRO thread of yours, EQII is by far the most polished modern MMO. The user flexibility is immense; whether that covers sound/visual customization, control customization, interface adjustment, etc.

Putting that aside though, EQ II's downfall is not in it's story/lore, and it's not in the fact that it's one of the fore-runners of 'modern mmo' gaming, with all the typical level progression, rush to end game, join a guild and raid till your eyes fall out. It's main issue is that it's just a hyped up version of what EverQuest got twisted into after the Luclin expansion many years ago.

Having said that, if the difference in visuals between EQ I and EQII does not disturb you, going back to EQI even despite how disheartening it is that it changed so much, would be a better idea than running through the second one.

It's also not very solo friendly. Even the most obvious solo classes, such as a Ranger, are a bit half-assed in that regard.

If you really want to play an EQ based game, that has solo capabilities, you should bust out an old PS2 and play EverQuest Online Adventures

Now that was fun.

For EQII, a server recommendation, Everfrost is fair. Good population level, and good high end guild representation. Though it's not the most popular, so it's not over-...populated!

I saw EQ2 in Circuit City and was instantly reminded of playing EQ back in the day.

Let me know how it compares to WoW if any of you own both. My cousin plays WoW, so I might hop on and play with him, as I'm looking for a MMO distraction

I've played WoW a lot and I only made it to level 11 on my current character and I definitely like it a lot more. The game just feels more epic and realistic. I used to play a EQ1 a TON and it hasn't let me down yet. My friend and his dad have some level 80's on Crushbone so I am gonna make a character tonight and play for real.

Yeah $14.99. I've tried most MMO's over the years and WOW I played for the 30 days that came with the game. I didn't like it at all. That said I loved and played for 1.5 years LotRO and then I discovered EQ2. I've been playing ever since. I joined the Antonia Bayle server because its the most populated server most of the time if not all of the time.

As for soloing...depending on the character its quite easy to solo most of the time.

Before wow came out EverQuest1 was the same way. They called it evercrack and that was the beginning of the good MMO games. I remember playing the ever loving hell out of everquest 1.. There were always the same people I played with too.

Well it seem's that everyone's all spread out over EQ2 servers.. I have the game Dl'ed but have not had the chance to play it yet or create a char.

For those who play, would ya mind creating a new char on another server where we all could play? (At work right now and don't have a server list in front, but I figure something with a medium pop?)

I am also playing on Crushbone under the name Irate for anyone else who plays. I'm a big WoW player and have been playing since Jan 05, so over 4 years. I've got 2 level 80's and had 6 level 70's more than 1 on each faction.

Looking for something new, played AoC was a ton of fun, got a 68 Conq and 63 ToS, but once into that high of levels at release there was no quests and I got burnt out grinding. They fixed it, but it slaughtered the realm pops so time to move on for now.

Gonna try EQ2 for the free month I got, if I like it I will stay. So far my bruiser is alot of fun.

BTW Shadow you make your character yet? Whats your Race/Class/Name?

Thats why I selected Antonia Bayle. The RP server. Great population. The high pop servers are nice because you are more likely to find people to group with. You'll appreciate that once you leave the noob areas. You see the noob areas are filled with people playing the 14-day trials. Then you leave the noob area and there is a distinct lack of players until you level up when playing on the low and medium pop servers. On the high pop servers you'll see people everywhere.
