Having rescently played the demo for Tom Clancy's HAWX. I, like many other people across the interwebz have complaint that IMO needs to be addressed before I would consider buying this game.

The Assistance off mode of the game offers you a much more maneuverable plane with one set back. The camera is locked to a very distant fixed position that for me and many others completely ruins gameplay experience. The game is no longer a 1st person pilot experience.

At the Ubisoft forum someone started a poll to show Ubisoft exactly how people felt about this camera view, and while it is probably too late for the console versions to get an update there is still a remote chance that the PC version could have the other cameras unlocked in a patch.

So to show Ubisoft that the poll they see on their forum is not an isolated incident I have created on here. Hopefully examples from larger demographics will oopen their eyes.

They are losing money here... even if they refuse to admit it.

Even tho I wont be buying the game, I still think it's great except for the third person mode. That kinda turned me away from it. I would love to help the people that are buying to get ubi to turn that crap off!

I was thinking of getting this game, but since i havn't researched it much i wasn't aware of the forced 3rd person outside assistance mode, that sucks (i hate hate hate any flight sim in 3rd person mode, i however love racing sims in 3rd person but i digress..)

Hopefully they will add a patch that allows 1st person no matter what mode you are in, or maybe there are some dev commands people will find that will allow it..

Yeah, I also dislike the entire idéa of having to see the plane from the outside once assistance mode is turned off. I have played many sim games (most of them flight games) and I almost "must" be inside the cockpit when playing them.

Good game otherwise, I'm totally getting this one.

I like the 3rd person camera although, I'd be better in cockpit mode. It makes everything look more stylish but its gay when it starts tracking a ground target and you crash into a building or mountain because you can't see where your going.

Yeah, at first I thought it was a bug or something that I couldn't change the camera view. That really sucks that in order to get the view I want I have to fly with a babysitter (flight assistance).... :(

I did learn to play with Assistance off and expert controls eventually but i agree. This was an epic FAIL for Ubisoft. Only thing worse than assistance off mode is the fact Ubisoft f*cked up the multiplayer and matchmaking upon release of the PC version. Leaving all paying customers stuck using Hamachi alongside the pirated versions of the game.

I use assistance off more than anything. Gives me a better view but I switch between them depending on situation.

there were a few times i need to switch to assistance off simply because i was dying when the missles were striking home. ass-off is much better for doing those split turns and avoiding said missles. i didn't like it at first especially during the tutorial mission but i grew to live with it.

No No No No No.

I have been playing this game and have been very impressed by the whole arcade flight fun of the thing (although it is never near as good as BF2 Flight). Infact, I was convinced enough by the game to go and buy it against the better judgement of the critic community at large. But now I have just got to the Ass-Off training level and can clearly see the epic FAIL that everyone has been talking about. Lumbering the gamer with that view is very sloppy work on the developers part.

This coupled with what I have been reading about Hamachi being the best option for playing the game online simply spells out:

When i play it i play in the cockpit but it's not the camera's that annoy me it's the point of having 40+ on one plane lol. Maybe just me and it's too arcade ish for me.

TIR4 gave me the little extra effert to play it and made it more involving.

It's already dropped to $30 so might not be to long it's $20 lol.

I find the assis off mode to be the best. Gives me a better view but I wish the left analogue stick could be used to aim the camera that would make it better.
