neeed help T_T psu won't power my system

my ocz stealthxstream 500w just arrived today...and i plugged all the cables in correctly and properly in so its not loose...but i don't get whats wrong,the power supply won't power on my computer at all..the blue light on the power switch glows and when i turn it on..it mights a strange sound and when the ram leds flashes but stops after..and when i leave it on it keeps making this noise like from airplanes,can someone please help meee T_T and the cooling fan doesn't spin

If its not a bad apple , then check ram and cards , if they have lock in , on the slots .

they are properly locked in...would a molex not connected to a SATA hard drive effect it?? do i need a molex connected to a SATA hard drive..?

Happen to forget to connect the 4pin/8pin AUX to your motherboard? Just curious, as I have done it numerous times in the past.

Do not panic .... first of all , the system should boot , with out any drives at all .

Remove all cards , keep just MB + RAM + VGA in place and try to boot ...

If this is not possible , just add the old PSU and try again .

You mean the power connector that goes next to the cpu?? yes thats in,does it matter if theirs no molex connected to the SATA hard drive

I've unplugged it..and it seems the ram LEDs flashes when i press the power button but then nothing happens..all i get is this strange noise =/ where could have i gone wrong..not even the fans are spinning

Okay list everything you have changed before powering up since it last worked.

Or is it just, old PSU out, new PSU in?

And are you saying everything powers up, I.e all lights light up, all fans spin, but it doesnt POST?

Does not need to be connected you just will not get boot to an OS. OK that brings up a few other points:

Are you getting no power on when pushing the button?

No post? Able to get into bios?

no nothing..the power light on the psu switch is glowing *which indicates its on* and it won't even boot up at all..all i get is the ram LEDs flash then nothing after and i haven't changed anything,just switched to new psu

OK what was the previous PSU? Did any cable management?

So do you get any response from the PSU at all?

Need to know exactly what you get.

Okay is this right:

- Take out old PSU

- Install new PSU

- Plug into mains

- Flick switch on pack of psu

- Mobo lights up, yes?

- Press power button and NOTHING (at all) happens.

yeah thats what i did..i did it correctly and i have checked all the connectors correctly fitted in and no lights or no fans spinning at all..

Alex it sounds like the ATX psu isnt getting a ground to the pwr on when attempting to power on. Hmmmm ....

Obviously the psu in question is more than enough power. This one has got me stumped. Only other item I can think it could be is that there was cable management done and one of the wires is shorted caused protection of the PSU to kick in. This is my take.

does it matter what order i place the molex connectors..? like P1-P5 etc..? and the system fan*which powers the top* is a 4pin connector correct..? a thin one and the connector some thick line which suppose to face the white line on the mobo?? or the front of the case,if that makes sense? and you think theirs a fault with some of the cable??

Only things I know of that can cause this (if not a failed component) is:

24 pin power connector not all the way and tab locked

CMOS reset jumper in clear position

Case switch busted (unlikely)

Case switch connection to mobo loose/not connected

@ kurosagi01 , check all the above, and try powering it up, then try it with just 24 pin mobo connector, CPU power connector, connected, if above is still a no go

still no luck =/ i even tried different power cord..different power wall,still no go at all..and the pins are properly connected in and the power button works..if my LEDs on my ram flashes then their is a signal of power went on it..

So what leds blink on for about half a sec and that is the only reponse to the power button you get?

Have you tried powering up with just the 24 pin and cpu connected?
