Motherboard: ASUS M2R32-MVP
PSU: Single 12v rail (42a) 700w PSU
Memory: 2x Corsair XMS2 (1gb each), 2x GSkill PI (2gb each) both dual channel kits all tested and working (Possible two brands of memory causing error??)
Sound: Onboard (no room for x-fi xtreme gamer with current vid cards and mobo)
Video: (2) Gigabyte 4870 1gb ddr5 Zalman type video cards
I'm pretty sure I've tried just about every single thing in these forums and other forums related to both of the problems I'm having.
1st Problem noticed, I've got a Sceptre 22" widescreen can't remember exact model off the top of my head. I was installing the 9.4 drivers after I removed the 2600pros I had and their drivers when it got to the part where it says Your screen may flicker while its installing the drivers, the screen did indeed go black, and it stayed that way until the no signal come up. I waited for quite awhile for the install to finish and hit enter (knowing it asks to reboot) the computer did reboot. Went through the post and the windows vista green loading bars being able to see but as soon as the loading bars finished the screen goes to no signal. Luckily I had an old 17" CRT laying around and a VGA to DVI adapter, plugged it in and wouldn't you know it works just fine!
And at that time I went into the CCC to see what monitor settings could be going and noticed that in the hardware part it shows both adapters but the second one is listed as "Disabled adapter" and not "linked adapter" I also saw there was no crossfire tab at all...then I began searching around the net looking for the crossfire issue first, found many many things about it and tried them all, I've tried every driver from 8.1 to 9.5, I used the drivers off the CD, I've even tried the modified drivers you can get off guru3d no luck with anything everytime its the exact same thing. Both cards are working (can switch places both work, tried in another computer and they both worked there too) everyone says its a bios problem but the cards I got came with the most recent bios gigabyte has.
Now heres where it gets weird...I read while trying to figure out the no display on LCD problem that you can use the HDMI port to get it to work so I figured I'd give it a shot, hooked up my DVI to HDMI adapter and of course I still had no display BUT looking in CCC it recognized a second monitor, it even changed from "disabled adapter" to "enabled adapter" which is weird, why is it treating it as a non crossfired card???? This is driving me nuts I really hope someone can help shed some light on this, I am upgrading my power supply and motherboard but cannot due so for about 20 days and if you enjoy gaming thats a long time. Help.
