hey guys
im currently getting my 9800 GX2 RMA'd, but i was thinking of selling that once i get it back and getting the new gtx295 from evga. should i do that or wait a couple of months for the new nvidia architecture i've read people mention?
also, whether getting the gtx295 or waiting, how will my processor bottleneck me? im hoping it wont but im not edjucated enough in this to make that judgement.
if these are newb questions i apoligize :\

I say wait. The 9800gx2 is about a gtx 280. So thats about 60% of the 295. Just wait for the new generation cards

Yes I say wait also. The GX2 is still a good card and it should be okay to hold yourself over with :) the wait will be worth it

In a state of flux...
I say wait, but not because of the new generation of cards that are about to come out and you should get one of them or the performance difference in the GX2 < GTX295....

You should wait because when the new lot of cards come out you will pick up a GTX295 for far less than its priced at now and a lot of people will no doubt be selling them to upfrade to newer stuff so you can pick a used one up even cheaper. :)

Maybe at stock speeds. Your E8500 should hit 4.0Ghz+ easy on stock voltages. That should help provide the extra processing a higher end GTX200 card needs.

Why not practice now?:) I'm sure you could do 3.8 standing still.

wait friend...u have a wonderful graphic card...and a wonderful cpu....will work for 5 years or more...

WTF was this about ?!? ?!?!

Hehe just kidding  , but that depends on the person, I´ve had a 8800GT, 4870X2 and now a GTX295.

I would say sell the GX2 while they are still worth some money and get a GTX275, will be prettier on your rig, then when new DX11 cards come out, build a i7 rig with them. And then either try to sell the PC entirely, or use it as a 2rig for lower end gaming, servering, folding whatever. But this requires bigger pockets

Oh and already a tip for cooller, any HDT ones because they go very cheap (35ish), or a True/U12P

heh i couldnt build another rig just for dx11, m pockets arent that deep

i think that when the new generation comes out ima gonna get a new case w/ liquid cooling for the processor and oc the cpu tto like 4.2 or 4.3ghz and try to get a new card and stick with that for awhile

besides, why would i need an i7 rig for dx11?

You dont need water to OC a 8600 like that, they are fairly easy to clock that high. A decent cpu cooler will be a lot cheaper, safer and easier to setup, just look at hardware canucks and see their reviews

If you have some spare cash then sell it and get a 275... it will be faster especially when OC'd.

Wait, GX2 should run basically everything on max.
Then, when DX11 cards comes out, get something from ATI or NVIDIA.

Just wait a bit more, Now the GTX 295 is significantly faster then the 9800 GX2, but the GX2 still holds in alot of games and programs. That E8500 is a great CPU, it shouldn't bottleneck it to much, but it would be best if you OCed it to really keep pace with whatever card you plan to get.
